I expected to see beat`em up/platform game, instead I got fighting/platform game. pros: - complex battle system; - secrets; - visuals; - multiple endings/characters. cons: - no learning progression in the game - you need to punch bag in the dojo to learn/train yourself to play the game as everything unlocked from the start; - game menu is too complex. It was like that: I selected arcade mode as I thought there would be less story (don't want to train in dojo to gain strength), soon I found that is too difficult and various spikes one-shot you, it use max difficulty setting. Then I selected story mode - the game started in max difficulty for me and I also struggled a lot, but then I tried to select chapter 1 I found difficulty selection (I don't think I see that screen before). After that I was able to beat the game. I see devs put their soul in the game and it can be a great one. Though progression system is not here, so the game throws everything at you. You can't even put this progression here as the game ends too fast, it's very short. So I don't see any solutions, but maybe this review can be useful for building future games.

While a bit of jank and a steep learning curve may make some players bounce off it, I think sticking with it rewards you with one of the most unique ahd fun 2D combat systems ever made. Absolutely worth it.
PROS
• Very simple and accessable controls • Nice, badass variety of brutal fantasy martial arts • Three actors to choose from with martial specialization • Nice and cliche story mode with fantastic art, music, and retro style
CONS
• Arcade mode has the Black Belt time limit • Story mode has some bloated and odd features • Combat breaks down in overpop'd, cramped quarters • Survival mode is contained in a small, roofed, one-room dojo
Ya, that's my bicep.
Don't know about you, but I can't get enough games that leech off the culture of the 80s, nor the satirical, purposeful overdrive we put on it. In a nutshell, Okinawa Rush puts you in a revenge power fantasy of ki, karate, and Kung Fu. You overcome all obstacles with your mind and body, and you rescue, heal, and occassionally talk to people along the way. The combat is a nice amalgamation of simple platformers, 2-button mashers, more complex brawlers like Streets of Rage, and fighting games; very specifically Street Fighter and MvC. It achieves this with d-pad movement, 3 buttons, contextual input, and combination inputs. As many attacks are based on Street Fighter, they are simple and univers…

Super fun game. Love playing this game on my steam deck on the go or during lunch breaks. The parry feels so good if you played games like SFIII and the combat is pretty fun. It can get brutal at times but the game feels so rewarding once you get pass a tough spot. Most def a must buy, specially on a sale!

A very unique arcade game. Imagine playing NES adventure games but combine with Tekken. I hope there will be badges and card provided in the future.

Sometimes the hit detection is a bit poor and you can feel the low budget quality here and there. But it is fun enough overall. 7/10
