KILLRUN

Was originally sold/marketed as a COD 4 inspired shooter called PROMOD, it was amazin. Then it was for some reason hastily converted into this weird janky parkour game. Very late review, but with WARDOGS coming out, which I am very hyped about, I feel like it's important to point out the especially bad record the studio has with delivering on their promises.

Ultimately giving a thumbs down as bulkhead never released and ended up abandoning the multiplayer and promod component of the game. This game could have been a prime opportunity to reinvigorate and breathe new life back into the CoD4 community and Bulkhead ended up squandering it before even giving it a chance. The server browser on CoD4 is worse more than ever, and we do not have any modern titles that offer the same gameplay experience like we had during CoD4. At the very least, It WOULD be nice to have access to the multiplayer game mode to at least host private servers and games with friends. On the other hand: I think the jumper and killrun game modes are a ton of fun and capture what made custom jumper/bounce servers in CoD4 so fun back in the day. - Completing challenges, improving your times and unlocking new weapons via the weapon modkits menu is good fun and also provides some good replay value. It is a shame RPG's and rocket jumps didn't make it into the game.

A good game plagued by horrible UX. Lots of little issues that add up to a bad experience but I could overlook most of them if it wasn't for the forced fov effects.

[h1]TL;DR[/h1] KILLRUN is merely a shadow of its former self, that being PROMOD. But even so, there's something worth checking out here if you're an old-school CoD player that enjoyed mods like CoDJumper. Unless you're apart of this super niche group of people, I'd recommend steering away from this game. Wallrunning, strafes, bounces, vaulting, it all feels nearly identical to CoD4, even down to the little details such as weapon animations. You can really feel that this game was made with passion, and that fun, along with competitiveness were at this game's very core. The KILLRUN map packs never get stale, Jumper is a fun (even if occasionally frustrating) mode, and the training facility teaches you just about everything it should whilst having all the necessary tools for practice. The game is really fun to play. Get it if you aren't concerned about the studio behind it. My thumbs-down is not related to KILLRUN's state. I just don't want to elaborate KILLRUN because... -------------------- I am so sad.. This game is really good, but you know what would be 10x better? A multiplayer mode... Stupid sarcasm aside, I felt the urge to relive the PROMOD Playtest and caved in after years of being salty about its closure. It's been so long that I can't be sure anymore, but at the time it felt like a done deal that PROMOD was going to be BULKHEAD's next game. And then it was just ripped away. It wouldn't be such a big deal to me if it wasn't the greatest MP I've played since I discovered what a Counter-Strike was. The mechanics are so buttery smooth that your hand will slide right off of your keyboard and into your pants. I was ADDICTED to that playtest. KILLRUN is a fast-paced first-person action game that puts speed, precision, and mastery of movement above all else.
