About Fabric

Overview

Fabric is a first person puzzle game in which you bend spacetime to solve challenging puzzles and complete glitchy-themed voxel-based levels.

Your goal is, basically, to reach the end of the level. To achieve this goal, you won’t need to collect numerous of items, won’t craft anything absurd or won’t try to persuade a chatty AI: In Fabric, you will change the shape of voxel-based levels and physics with your gun. This gun allows you to bend space, squeeze the world, separate tiles from each others and bring them together.

Key Features

  • 60 Unique Puzzles: Fabric challenges you to over 10 hours of gameplay with 60 unique and mind blowing levels.
  • Bend the Environment: When you select two tiles with your gun, everything between them will disappear, and the world will squeeze according to these two tiles.
  • Defy The Laws of Physics: Fabric is a platform puzzle, so you can change physic to bend level as you want. E.g. changing gravity upside down lets you to walk on upper floor.
  • Mess With Your Brain: Puzzles are levels themselves. Bend the half of level vertically or horizontally, bring separate parts together and re-separate them to create a path which you can move on.
  • And More: Electric cables, power fields, more glitches...

It all started with a guy by the name of Boris Michael Soylu who entered a concept he was working on into one of those 7DFPS contests. His idea consisted of taking the space time bending mechanic that was present in the 2D plat-former called 'Faultline' by Nitrome https://youtu.be/bG_dgL1cPQU and enlarging that principle to a 3D world. The idea was a huge success and well received and from there on the project was immediately hand-balled to three level designers, Atil Kockar (Now with Chimera Entertainment), Anton Semchenko (Now with Kabuk Games) and Enes Ugur Sekerci (Now with King). As you can probably tell these three developers who made up Torreng Labs have all gone their separate ways and Torreng Labs no longer exists as a commercial entity. This is why you won't find 'Fabric' on the Steam store anymore. It’s a pity really and having now wandered the potential landscape of this premise well after the aftermath has already taken place, I can't help but feel that this product deserved a LOT more love than it actually received. Personally, I had a ball of a time strategically learning the principles of bending space time and gravity flipping with my gun. The 65 puzzles are set o…

Good idea for a first-person puzzler, just wish it was a little more visually appealing.

Its "ok" for like about 20 levels and then you're like: Nah...

This game has a really excellent take on spatial puzzle solving, but it has a core oversight in the UI design. When pointing at a bend anchor in the world, it will highlight the axes extending from that anchor, letting you trace which other anchors you can form a bend with. However, the minimap does not have this highlighting. This makes it very difficult to play on larger levels or levels with walls obstructing your vision (which is really most levels after the first few). Personally, i find this lack of path highlighting on the map makes it borderline unplayble. I can muddle through eventually, but brute force trial and error isn't fun. I want to be able to plan my path and theorize a solution, but the map is just so hard to read. It's a good game though. If you are good at counting gridlines through empty space and keeping track of stuff hidden inside closed rooms, this shouldn't bother you and you can enjoy the puzzling.

this is a pretty solid first-person puzzler overall. the stages kinda start a little too easy/boring for a bit but eventually stuff ramps up and they get more engaging and challenging. the art style is a little bland but works well enough for the kind of game it is. i also just like the mechanic of changing the shape of the world by phasing sections in and out. so in spite of the slow start it's overall recommended if you usually like these types of games
