"Fire-god tells me to kill zombies, demons, and monsters so I kill things! Fire-god tells me to protect fairy so I protect fairy! Fire-god say yellow leaved autumn trees hold powerful secrets so I go there!" ~Human survivor after the great star fall When you're a small time dev or dev team it's important to know your limitations. Your first game probably isn't going to be as grandiose as another GTA,Fallout,Skyrim,Cyber-Punk,Witcher,Stellar Blade,Nier Automata,or Dragon's Dogma. But a humble indie project can still turn out to be decent if the gameplay is fun and the main character isn't a hideous unpleasant flesh golem of a human being! Well congratulations,Blade Abyss! You already have a lead over certain piles of triple A slop we've been force fed in current year! Blade Abyss is more or less a free roam hack n slash horde mode with a few objectives, some upgrades scattered about,a handful of bosses, and plenty of creature fodder to slaughter. (There's also a day and night cycle that seems to effect the power-scaling of certain enemy encounters.) At some point a beautiful Native American woman wielding a war hatchet teams up with a fairy…

Less than an hour in, Medium difficulty. It's definitely a solid work considering a solo dev. A couple of things to note for those who may be interested: Technical Features

[strike]The game's resolution settings is...quirky? The screen resolution is tied to FPS, and there's only a 40FPS or 165FPS options. 40 is, well, too stiff feeling, but 165 just send my mid-tier PC to overdrive and gets me a bit scared. Wonder why there's no 60 FPS option (which is often more than enough to my eyes).[/strike] EDIT: this seems to be an issue of my own device. The FPS options seems to be tied to my screen refresh rate of 40Hz and 165Hz. Others should not have this issue.
Game Progression

You walk, you see monsters, you kill them, until you see this fire-like spot that sort of rates your performance and let you access a shop to buy consumables (healing items and ammos of sort).

I killed a boss I think? And then suddenly there's this segment that looks like an escort mission of some sort. Failed it twice, and somehow the NPC didn't follow me on my next try, and still got the rating thing. Kinda confused.

Combat …

Trash. Says controller recommended. Camera doesn't work with controller. It's obvious the developer either doesn't care or is too unskilled to fix it.

Blade Abyss is a fast-paced action game developed and published by KungFolio that embraces a straightforward philosophy: success depends on player skill rather than character progression. Instead of relying on extensive equipment upgrades, level grinding, or complex stat management, the game challenges players to sharpen their reflexes and master its combat mechanics. This minimalist approach gives the experience a refreshing identity, placing every victory squarely in the hands of the player rather than the strength of their inventory. For fans of demanding action titles, this focus on mechanical mastery is one of the game's most appealing qualities. Combat serves as the foundation of the entire experience, with every battle designed to reward precision and punish careless mistakes. Players face relentless waves of undead enemies before confronting towering bosses capable of unleashing devastating attacks. The combat system revolves around well-timed dodges, accurate parries, and carefully executed counterattacks, encouraging players to observe enemy behavior and respond with precision. Button mashing rarely leads to success, as survival depends on understanding attack patterns a…
