DSS 2: War Industry

Game has multiplayer but apparently can't figure out how resolution works. Only for windowed apparently, fullscreen doesn't get resolution settings and the buttons are TINY. Impossible to see on my screen. Changing the resolution is not the same as just resizing the window - needs a UI scale option.

This is really ambitious strategy game. It is a mix of Anno, Settlers and Total war. The only title I could find which tried similar formula is Grand Ages Medieval by Kalypso Media. But they released it half baked, and never fixed anything thereafter. My only complaint about this game is, the UI is just too much of a mess. Maybe because it is developed by one developer, and it is easy for him to navigate what he developed, but I think it is just too much to handle for players, especially when you start expanding into other territories and manage multiple cities. We need some charts that allows us to see what resource is being produced at which amounts at which region, etc. Anyway, it is good game to try, and the developer is dedicated to improve the project, which he was doing for the last couple of years without any signs of backing off.

This game is good overall, great mechanics but needs work on balancing. ammunition would solve most of the balancing issues, as even the ai understands that the most efficient thing you could possibly do is train as many cheap javelins as you can and then send them to die constantly, like goblins. my personal gripe with this game, that im not holding against it, is that it is such a beautiful game with progression that mirrors real life somewhat well, and then the main source of conflicts is some ai that decides 'okay time for fighting'. its the same pitfall that dwarf fortress and rimworld fall into (both games i love mostly). I understand its common for a reason, as full scale simulation of conflicts between a ton of factions would melt my puny computer, but please blend it in slightly more than the 'dark horde' mechanic. i spent alot of time watching the giant civs that i wasnt allowed to befreind (foreshadowing amirite) waiting for them to leave dormancy and start sending troops my way to defend against, and instead a small army of vagrants shows up on one side of my country. destroy that army, and a small unclaimed territory (or it transformed a city) becomes 'dark horde' …

the guys complaining about the economy and work priorities have either not updated their reviews or haven't spent enough time to learn it. if you've ever dealt with rimworld's work priorities it works essentially the same. it's mildly annoying to find out you're not producing a good you thought you were or you're negative on a resource you need, but ultimately it's something you can fix. for the current state of the game, i think $18 is well worth the price. it's a mix of colony-sim and RTS that starts evolving into a grand strategy later in the game. the automation kinda sucks unless you have a large enough city, but it's not particularly difficult to build a bunch of orchards and worker housing to get your cities up to the point of automation.

We have MP now guys, it doesnt sync properly, everything is misalinged and game probably crashes for that reason, but we have it. Buy now for 15 bucks. Your programmer friends are eating their words now... I REPEAT - YOU CAN LAUNCH A MP SESSION, SO ITS WORKS
