Bonfire (MoaCube)

Bonfire is the closest thing we have to a deterministic non-position-based Darkest Dungeon! I played hundreds of hours the old version, and this version is looking to be beautiful! Don't be fooled by the cartoonish graphics! It is HARD and pretty tense! Food management is a cool new factor emphasizing the grim-dark situation, but in my 2.3 hours of gameplay of the new version as of now (and having to starve a lil bit due to no food) I think it would be cool if it were a lil bit easier to get more food, maybe even for a lot of gold! The dev is still balancing this, but IMHO the combat and class combination is already Darkest-Dungeon level awesome!

Bonfire Review This game has the potential to be a good game, but it has some SERIOUS issues that ruin the entire experience. I really tried to like this game, and feel like I gave it more than a fair shake. The simple fact is that this game is a very slow grind that rapidly becomes even slower. Your choice of characters is limited to the first three, and it feels like any deviation is severely punishing due to a loss in defense and/or healing. These limitations may be circumvented by grinding enough skill points to add effects to your abilities, but I'm not about to take the time to do that. Harder quests seem to be dependent on your ability to spam heavy damage or instant kill items. All other item types don't have enough impact to take. The mechanic of permanent damage is interesting, but often leads you into positions where you're pretty much doomed to die once your motivation meter becomes too hard to fill to reset your maximum health. With all these complaints, I feel like it'd be disingenuous to not make at least some recommendations: -Decrease experience required in the later levels dramatically. fun

It's a turn based combat game which grants you a lot of variations for your playstyle based on the character combinations and item loadout. It's also very addicting, which you can see from my playtime.

I like it so far

I keep returning to this game. It's very easy to jump back into and progress a bit - most of my games are either a time commitment or an addictive timesink that I have to cut myself off after a while, but Bonfire has become a relaxing experience that I can always open for 30 minutes without feeling lost.
