gameplay-wise this is the best KF so far. if the devs continue to improve it with good updates it has the potential to surpass the other 2 overall as well. ignore the salty reviews, it's great
I LOVE WAVESHOOTERS.
tl;dr at bottom Killing Floor1/2/3, Payday1/2/3, Sanctum1/2, TF2 MvM, Vermintide... I will support the things I'm passionate about (KF3 started just as rough at Payday 3, and I'm expecting the same turnaround). KF3 is a great game, but it was missing several key-components from its predecessors. To name a few: Patriarch successor, zed voicelines, and team taunting Thankfully, they've addressed the first (moorcroft boss), they're rolling out lines for the second (stalker, zed halloween voicelines). My hope is for more classic banter, but their roadmap is currently (as of October 2026):
Berzerker, new maps, new weapons, modding/UGC/Zedditor, endless (moorcroft voiceline work has been COMPLETED), and prestige.
I'm hoping for more interchange between specialists following these updates. General comparisons to KF1/2: Gameplay KF3 vs KF: Faster movement, zeds are more mobile/self-preserving, KF3 vs KF2: Zed attacks are more aggressive/have more range Design 3v1: 3 has a much "cleaner" look compared to 1's dingy/grimey look. 3v2: 3 is similar to 2's, but the destruction asset quality is much higher. I'm a huge KF fanboy. I preordered the Elite edition. I also have a fairly old PC, that's within minimum requrements. It's been over a year and I wanted to try out the Halloween event, to relive the good old days. But, there is still no way to enjoy this game. I think 70% of my playtime was just compiling shaders. Also, you need the nerves of steel just to have an opportunity to play a single online match, which why 95% of the playtime I managed to have, was solo. The reason is pre-game area you need to spawn to, which needs loading. After it, you need to load an actual level, which loads for an eternity. And after you spend all your game time loading stuff, you get a message that the connection to server was lost. Instead of just selecting another server, the game throws you all the way back to the main menu, from which you need to load the pre-game area again and then the actual level and pray that the server connection is stable, in order to play with actual people. Does this sound fun to anyone? It might be just on my end because of the specs, but I believe there was a better way to deal with all this loading. I will give it another chance from time to time and upd…
