About Wide Open
'Wide Open' was born out of a love for old-school, top-down offroad racing games. Offroad racing has come a long way since the days of the 8 bit and 16 bit systems and this game intends to reflect those evolutions. With a fully deformable terrain, you can be sure that no lap will be like the last. You can enjoy timing big jumps and drifting corners. There are many terrain types like asphalt, dirt, sand, mud, and more! Numerous tracks are available and more will be on their way.
Over 64 tracks!
Each track is unique in that they all have different soil types and can range from large, fast tracks to tight stadium tracks.
Real time terrain deformation
Each track features unique soil types that deform under the wheels of each vehicle. The terrain changes rapidly so no two laps are the same. Soil types include mud, loam, sand, hard-packed clay, and many others.
Multiple vehicles
Currently, there are six vehicles to choose from, each with different handling characteristics so you can choose the vehicle that suits you the best.
Replay system
With our new replay system, you can relive your best finishes and your worst crashes. There are four camera modes available so you can get the angle you are looking for.
Camera modes
The game features a fully adjustable orbital, top-down camera as well as a follow camera for those who want to use it.
Race modes
Choose between 3 different race modes - Race, Time-trial, and Freeride.
Fully customizable race properties

I paid $25 for this game a while back. It was an alright game, probably shouldnt have spent $25 on it though. However, now I enter the game and absolutely everything is locked, leaving it unplayable for me now. When I had access the game was decent, so I'll leave a good review for that, but I'm kinda pissed I cant play now...3 found this helpful
This game still does not have accessible multiplayer through steam. You have to port forward and MAYBE your friends can join. This game has been out for what a year and a half and they have not posted patch notes for 8 months. The physics of this game are really enjoyable but the devs failed the supporters of this game terribly in my opinion3 found this helpful
I would totally recommend this game, it is very fun and there are lots of tracks. Only thing for me is I prefer to use an xbox controller.3 found this helpful
Recommended game and the developers are kind and open minded to game ideas etc .2 found this helpful
Good game over all. Need's more work which seems to be stopped update wise.Steer clear unless you can get it on sale.1 found this helpful
Pretty neat little project the devs have here. Love the inclusion of terrain deformation, it adds a nice layer to the surprisingly well honed racing experience. I know the top down view is sorta the point of a top down racer haha but I appreciate the third person camera and honestly think the game feels and looks stellar from that perspective. Would be interested to see how a cockpit cam played! I know this is a small team project but Ill def be following this one and checking out any future updates. I think the devs have a charming yet technical arcade racer here which is something we really don't have (any?) much of in the genre. A bit more polish to the overall presentation, some refinement to the deformation systems and maybe even a CARPG Lite career mode with some license and modification systems? Wherever this little project goes Im happy to have spent the money to check it out and hopefully support development a bit. Best of luck to the dev team!1 found this helpful
