Maze Keeper

I can totally understand most players' frustrations with this one. It is a tough game. The RNG is ridiculously brutal! You will lose many many times. I might even place it in the rage bait genre. With all that being said, there is a lot of fun to be had too, especially when you finally pull off a win. It's probably one of my top satisfying wins. Most players just want rinse and repeat, easy-to-100% games these days. This is not it, and if I'm honest, I like that this one is really tough. Not to mention, for its price, there is a lot of content here. I started playing before the RNG patch came and it was a nightmare. After the patch, it was still very hard but a lot more player friendly. I loved the demo, and now this released version of the game is even better! I don't know why, but it's addicting, even as simple as it is.

Maze Keeper offers an entertaining reversal of the traditional dungeon-crawling formula by putting the player in charge of the labyrinth rather than the adventurer exploring it. Instead of fighting through rooms filled with monsters, your responsibility is to populate a dangerous maze with creatures, strengthen its defenses, and prevent an increasingly powerful hero from escaping. Developed and published by Spaceward Games, it blends tower defense, roguelike progression, deckbuilding concepts, strategic positioning, and auto-battler mechanics into an experience centered on preparation rather than direct combat. The central idea works particularly well because the adventurer behaves almost like an RPG protagonist controlled by the enemy. Every successful encounter makes the threat more dangerous, and even defeating the adventurer does not permanently solve the problem. The hero can return stronger than before, forcing you to continuously improve the maze. This creates an amusing change in perspective because the type of character progression that would normally benefit the player becomes something to fear. the game is fun, the concept is cool, but several game breaking bugs that force you to abandon your progress make this a not recommended, its been frustrating to play more than anything else.
