About Building 847

New Mexico, 1986

A bizarre incident occurred inside this seemingly innocuous building, in the middle of a small city. You're a private detective who got a tip about this gruesome scene. As you investigate the confusing aftermath of what happened inside Building 847, the truth begins to unfold.

A first-person narrative game with horror undertones, but no monsters or jumpscares. This is a short length game, around an hour, depending on how thorough you are, as there is some side content.

Key features:

 • Explore, investigate, and draw your own conclusions.
 • Examine scenes to visualize past events and recreate what happened through the "Visualize" feature.
 • Talk and question the tenants
 • Dialog choices
 • Choose between 2 endings which will affect future stories

Lore: An alternate-reality

The world gazes their eyes upwards, and wonder what could be. A new focus, a grand objective - to explore the Cosmos and the limits of outer space.
In 1975, the INF treaty was signed between the East and West, paving the way for a new alliance in pursuit of greater technological advances for all mankind.

A militarized mega-corporation named Space Administration Agency, SAA, is responsible for all space research, aeronautics, advanced electronics and software in the USA. By some, the SAA are seen as the carriers of the great torch, the idealistic vision of technological and intellectual superiority from any other country. By others, the SAA is seen as a leech and parasite- preying on businesses, indoctrinating people from a young age with adverts and products, pursuing their goal no matter the cost.
In 1986, crime is at an all time high, corporations rule over small-businesses and the economy is dividing the people. The night you investigate the strange scene inside Building 847, will be one to remember...

✦ AI summary

Building 847 is a short atmospheric walking simulator with an intriguing investigation mechanic where you piece together what happened through environmental clues, though players are divided on its execution. While some appreciate the creepy vibes and story setup, others criticize the mediocre writing, environments, and overall presentation, with technical issues like UI bugs and unreadable subtitles detracting from the experience. Most agree the game's brief length (around an hour for first playthrough) makes it a tough sell at full price, with some suggesting it's only worth playing if obtai

Alright. Building 847 is done and dusted. This was a very interesting and creepy walking simulator with a nice investigation gameplay mechanic whereby you can deduce what happened via clues found, and they present in a ghostly fashion similar to what you can find in The Division 2 actually. The first playthrough will take about an hour and subsequent playthroughs last about twenty minutes as you run through things with your previous knowledge of the game in tow. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3255293804 Vibes are what this game is really all about. This is the story of a detective investigating a call for police. When he arrives, he finds that a S.W.A.T. team has already arrived and have been killed. So, it's time to find out exactly what happened, and what happened inevitably leads to some very horror-centric stuff. I could dive in more, but it would be impossible to avoid spoilers, so I'll just leave it there. I will say that I really enjoyed the story. It's right in my wheelhouse and very cool IMO. There is one sequence and two moments where you will need a gun. However, there is no real danger in those moments. You just dispatch something quick…

While the game isn't that bad, there are serious issues with interactions. Newspapers and notebooks don’t close properly and stay displayed on the screen. Meh.

This was actually a pretty interestin' game. It provides some ambience and an atmospheric setting. It's also pretty short of a game. Video: https://youtu.be/lxxJnwqxiy8
Follow "First Person Exploration and Puzzle Games" for more games like this!
This reminds me of those Half Life mods people used to make to teach themselves game programming. Everything about this game is mediocre: the writing, environments, sounds, music, programming, UX, and story. If you really like indie games, it might be worth the 30 minutes it takes to beat if you got it for free. But I would not recommend paying for it, as you can get the same experience from dozens of indie Half Life mods.

Interesting story and nice atmosphere, I enjoyed my time there :) It would be nice to see a controller support and mouse sensitivity options. Some subtitles were impossible to read, had to turn the flashlight off to read them. The clues screen border should change color after watching them, I forgot it was a blink the signal. Good work!
