About Penguin Noir

Penguin Noir takes inspiration from classic pinball games coupled with an intriguing and humorous mystery to uncover.

Play as Giuseppe Squawks, a disgraced detective seeking to uncover the shocking truth behind his girlfriend’s disappearance. Slide your way through a world full of icy twists and turns and rack up points in a combo while on your way to find out what the Seal Club Mafia did to Adelaide Anchovie!

Our game takes the classic gameplay of pinball and adapts it into fast-paced maze exploration. Throughout each level, the player is tasked with collecting three pearls and keeping up a combo of actions that influence their movement. For example, the player can fire a gun that boosts them through the air with its recoil!

Controller Recommended. Supports Xbox Controllers, DualShock 4, and Keyboard/Mouse.

✦ AI summary

Players praise this game for its fun, accessible gameplay, witty humor, and good value, with many highlighting the charming writing and pick-up-and-play appeal. Common complaints center on missing quality-of-life features like a settings menu for audio and mouse sensitivity adjustments, occasional physics quirks with ground sticking and bouncing that affect momentum, and level design that becomes repetitive toward the end despite the game's short length; several players also suggest achievements would enhance replayability.

Pretty fun game, great value for the money! I like the part where the Penguin says "It's Pengin time" and then Pengs everyone. 10/10 would play again

Fun little game! Seems like a good game that you can pick up and play when you have a few spare minutes. Story is well written and pretty funny! Couple of pieces of feedback: * It'd be nice if there was a setting menu. I may have missed it but I don't think I see one. Controls are pretty straight forward so I do not think a rebind option is needed, but at the least an audio slider setting would go a long way :-) * Achievements! This game seems ripe for some achievement hunting. The obvious thought is through level progression, you seem funny enough to come up with some tag lines. Another thought is getting all gold penguins for all levels. Getting under a certain speed on levels, etc.

Neat little game, has a good sense of momentum and controls fairly well. It's one where I'd say it ultimately gets held back from being great from some of the flaws. One that causes some issues is you don't stick to the ground. You often do little bounces which does seem to take away some momentum. It isn't too bad, but I do think it causes me to take damage when it feels like I should break something like the ice. I think that it might work a bit better with some more linear level design but more diverse level types. Towards the end I did start feeling the levels felt a bit samey (especially since they don't reflect what is happening in the story), but it's a fairly short game so it doesn't overstay its welcome.

Very solid game. Well put together, witty jokes, and fun gameplay. I really enjoyed the mechanics of this game and think that really carried it. I ran into one instance where I got stuck in a wall and I found the mouse sensitivty to be too high and the sound to be too loud, but a simple settings menu would fix that. All in all, very solid, much enjoy.
