About Alma

Alma is an interactive narrative that captures the tension of work-life balance for healthcare workers. Play as Alma, a caring mother and pediatric nurse, who must tend to both aspects of her life. Alma is a story of self-care and the struggle to find balance in an imbalanced life.

Alma must make consequential choices on how to spend her limited compassion. Throughout the game, Alma may choose to spend her compassion on her patients or her family. Be careful! If Alma uses her compassion too early in the day, she won't be able to spend compassion on important choices later.

Responding to texts also costs compassion. Throughout her workday, texts will come in on Alma's phone, and she will have to decide whether to deny her current patient her compassion, or use that compassion for her relationships at home.

Alma will also occasionally have the option to be honest with people. While this may damage some work or home relationships, it will give Alma a much needed release and re-fill her compassion! Will you unload the stresses of being a single mom onto your boss when she asks how your night was? Or will you bottle it up in order to improve your chances for a raise?

Alma's demanding job and stressful home life will provide many difficult trade offs, how will you handle them? Will you be able to leave every patient throughout the day feeling better? Will be able to stay close enough with your daughter? Will you have any compassion left over for yourself after a long workday? Play Alma today to find out!

Dang - well that was a great 15min. Frenchie - why did you make such a sweet game so short? I'd love to play more, I'm already falling for all the characters. Great work, I can't wait to see what comes next! EDIT: As a review for others - this is really a 15min demo more than a full game, but it's got a lot of heart and hits a lot of beats right. Definitely recommended for the quick demo that it is. Covers the medical field really nicely in a way I've not seen before. Only complaint is that there's not more and that the finale screen is "Alt + F4 to quit" lol.

Cute story but mostly a tutorial for a game that won't happen. That being said, I want more games like it. I'm going into nursing school and while this may not be a realistic story, I'd like to play story based games about nurses.

As a nurse student I really found this game accurate but also beautiful. It was a great way to show the constant balancing that can occur during the work and I love the ending with information about nurses mental health. I've met so many nurses during my internships and it truly is an incredible work they're doing everyday while balancing everything else in their lives. Thank you Alma Team <3
