About Cast Out Colony

Cast Out Colony has been described by its players as a blend of Animal Crossing, Cult of the Lamb, and Vampire Survivors. It fuses roguelite gameplay, bullet-heaven action, and intricate town-building components to craft an entirely distinctive experience, redefining the survival genre. The meta-progression is located within the colony itself. The larger you grow your colony, the higher your character's stats become.

  • Multiple playable characters

Choose from a variety of adorable arthropods and not-so-creepy crawlies, each with their own unique skills and characteristics.

    Bullet Heaven combat

Choose from a variety of OVER 50 active and passive skills as you level up and fight your way through the never-ending hordes of beasties and baddies. Stick with your favorites, experiment with something new, or upgrade them to unleash your might; either way, no two runs will ever be quite the same!

    Build your colony

Build your own colony and increase its inhabitants, some of which will help you in your survival! Growing your colony provides bonuses, both permanent and temporary, meaning the stronger you build your colony, the stronger your character can become.

Pass. Runs aren't much fun and the base building/house keeping aspect doesn't help this any.

Several years ago, Vampire Survivors was a singular joy in my life among video games; it was novel, quirky, and deep, despite its limited mechanics. It's a masterpiece, in my view. Since then, among the many games VS inspired, only a few have risen to a similar echelon and escaped the moniker of mere pretender or clone. These are games like Death Must Die, Halls of Torment, and Deep Rock Galactic Survivor. Now to that list I'm adding Cast Out Colony. The depth of Vampire Survivors meets the fun of base building. This game is a must play.

An absolute gem in the flood of this genre that deserves a lot more attention than it gets! The graphics are really nice, lovely characters and details in the base building - and having the building aspect at all, even rewarding you for decorating! [strike]It doesn't come with the usual weapon/passive merging[/strike], but therefor you get an ultimate and you can take different villagers on your runs to assist you. A big YES! BUY!! from me if you are into this kind of games! This is one of the games I would buy a "Support the developer" package for if they had one! Edit: Found the weapon merging ;)

11 August 2026: This game has not recieved an update for 17 months, it's been out of EA for a while and it's not finished. Completionists beware, this game is boring to 100%, I have to do 30-40 more runs just for achievements, I have no more unlocks after just 10 hours and it's endlessly boring once you run out of builds to do, of which there are very few, I already can't do anything with the currency I earn, I've beaten each arena and the highest difficulty. (would probably be less if we took out time wasted on the game breaking and me taking breaks without closing the game) [list] [*]Text boxes will randomly soft lock you. (had to alt+F4 because the gym guy didn't give me the yes/no box) [*]Mouse controls are floaty and laggy. [*]You have one currency for everything, you're not building a colony you're just paying for it. [*]Character select isn't accessable unless you quit out or enter a run and win or fail, you can't look in the in-game "how to unlock" list and change your character before entering an arena. [*]You pay for arenas, but every arena is just a square, the maple one is the only one with a meaningful gimmick and the most expensive one has huge d…

I'm not an expert in these kind of "number go up" games, but this one is pretty solid. I think the UI could've used more polish, and I really wish there were variety in the soundtrack, but otherwise it's mechanically solid and the bug designs are really pleasing and clever.

It's a nice Arena shooter with cute bugs.
