RAINBOW HIGH™: RUNWAY RUSH

[code]Played on a Steamdeck Half of this playtime I left my pc idle by accident, I played maybe a total of 3 hours. This franchise is some kind of Bratz / Monster High clone, but judging from the very simple and poor writing, it must be made for a younger audience than either of those games. The story is yet again all about fashion but compared to e.g. a franchise like Monster High which has some cool characters with creative colorful outfits, the character design here is just uninspiring and dull. No one with just the slightest understanding in good fashion would look at these models thinking they dress nicely. Every character is following a single color theme, like they all suffer from monomania and when they stand together in a group they look like an RGB gradient. The animations and character models also look and feel very stiff, like they are actually made of plastic, this gets emphasised even more by the sound it makes when they run, which sounds like horses hooves. The gameplay is also just a boring and partially annoying experience. …

Rainbow High Runway Rush could have been an email. Nintendo DS/Wii girl slop type game, but worse! The DS had an excuse. This is outrageous lmfao. I was nostalgia baited and desperate since so many titles in the genre have been delisted. Addictingly bad. What I really hated was half the rooms and floors could not be explored. For characters that live our dream school life on campus in swanky ass dorms, this is bare bones asf. Rainbow High doesn't give. It takes.

As a Rainbow High fan since day 1, i LOVE this game !! *-* Here are my pros and cons: + The characters are super accurate, even the backgrounders are well made and we can have interactions with them + The school is huge ! So many classes to explore, sometimes i just relaunch the game to wander in the hallways x) ± Having 6 different minigames for each character is a nice touch, however they are way too simple / childish... Like, yeah, the game is made for children but even as a child i would've been bored at one point ± Graphics are good enough i guess but could be a lot better - The facial expressions are ugly lmao sorry - The price is absolutely crazy. Like, 40€ ?!?! Absolutely NOT worth it !! I finished the game in 6 hours, i even replayed it on another platform but yeah i only bought it at a very very good discount (iykyk). If i payed 40€ i would've been super disappointed :/ Overall, while i do recommend this game, you shouldn't buy it at full price. I'd rather get an actual RH doll instead ♥

I received this game in a Humble Bundle. I was unfamiliar with the brand. Upon researching them, I am unimpressed and more than a little grossed out, but I will keep this review to my experience of the game itself. RH:RR feels like a Wii-era rip-off of Bratz and similar competitors. Unfortunately, this is a game released in 2023 for a doll series launched in 2020.
