What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders is a classic old-school tactical RPG that players praise for its charming aesthetics, engaging setting, music, and nostalgic appeal, with many appreciating the successful port to modern PC systems. Common complaints include janky controls, inability to replay specific missions, and occasional difficulty spikes, though fans consider these minor flaws in an otherwise beloved experience. Players generally feel the game is worth playing if you enjoy retro tactical RPGs or have fond memories of the franchise, though it's acknowledged as showing its age.
A hybrid strategy and hack and slash game from the days of the original Xbox. It's pretty clunky and the melee combat is basic but the battles have a huge scale where you have to switch between units and think on the fly which makes things feel exciting and epic. Voice acting is 1980's anime dub quality (Awesome) and it has this totally out of place but still perfect nu metal soundtrack. The guitars sound so fat and heavy, it's hilarious. Folks are talking about orks and dark elves advancing on their position and the music is like "Chugga chug chug i hate my dad chugga chug". It rules. I also love those chunky old graphics, they are pure 2004 in the best way. If you're an old ♥♥♥♥ who owns multiple Slipknot shirts and likes Lord of the rings then you gotta get this.4 found this helpful
Loved this game back on the OG Xbox. Glad they finally brought it to a PC port!
GOOD OLD SCHOOL RPG, GROUP TACTICS AND SINGLE PLAYER
great port
taking me back to fond childhood memories. i just love the game and the franchise, and am very glad that they brought it to pc to be enjoyed on modern systems. its not the best game by any means, but it just has so much charm: the aesthetics, the setting, the music, the rpg elements, the tactical elements, the characters, the writing, the narrative ... despite some flaws like the janky controls, not being able to redo specific missions and if you really badly mismanage your resources maybe get softlocked by difficulty spikes like i did as a child. for me its a classic. only thing left is kuf:circle of doom and my life is complete. one can dream.
Originally played this game on the XBOX. Just as fun, silly and the game play is enjoyable and addictive. Love the game, Heroes is the best and I want my money back for them shutting down Kingdom Under Fire 2. Boo to online games
