It is genuinely fun. To be honest, having seen many videos on other games from the developer, fun is not what I expected! Don't get me wrong, this game is also really stressful. But fun!!! And I enjoyed the stress, too. Horror-wise, the game managed to REALLY get me a few times. "Dead Signal" is also really appealing visually (I love the way the new Noir people look!), though the graphics are one of my main complaints: I hate how you basically have to pick between good looks and mechanics vs. good visibility. Additionally, I have experienced some performance issues, though that might be an issue on my side (And seems to have been resolved with the help of that one community guide!), especially since I ran the game through Proton. The game is of course challenging, though is seemingly fair-ish compared to the others from what I can tell. Casual mode is a great addition, though I wish they added something like the Detective Mode from "Scrutinized". Or maybe even the fabled Custom Night. As much as I love Reflex Studio games. The numerous bugs in this game seriously undermine the games quality. I've come across at LEAST 10 different run-ending bugs. Anything from bugs like Lucas killing you when there was nothing you could have done about it, to my character being locked up and unable to move or look around, ending my nightmare run. Again, I love Reflex Studio games. They're some of the coolest games to exist. But Jesus Christ.. The bugs are disgusting in this game, and I'm very disappointed that Adam, the developer, has neglected to fix them. This also applies to other games of his. Another issue is that some of the logic that is intended inside the game is not thought out well. This leads me to believe that Adam is a very good creative director, but a HORRIBLE coder. It would serve him and his games well for him to take control of the creative process and have someone code some of the logic for him. Or at least brainstorm on how the mechanics should work. All of this comes from love. I've done insane challenges throughout my time playing games, and I can tell you this is some of the coolest and awesome gameplay loop and concept. Welcome to the Game meets Observation Duty. It even felt a little "easier" than the other Reflect Studios games. It's a lot to know and remember (especially all the reports). BUT it's far from impossible! Dead Signal might even be the best one to try for yourself, if you want to start the RS games.
