The Ember Guardian

Damn i was really hoping for a longer game, took only 25 hrs to finish. But there may be more to come because when you use the teleporters and finish each area, there is a padlock icon in place of the arrow that you press to select another area...meaning theres room for just more of this masterpiece. An easy 9/10 for those that enjoy the "kingdom" franchise.

Its like a mix of moonlighter with kingdom 2 crowns. Easy to start, hard to put down. I had to grind the first few levels a few times to beat the third. Upgrading is fun and once you max a few out it makes a big difference and then the game opens up a little more. Graphics are good for the style, sounds are fun and suit the action style. Go get some.

I didn't like it that much. The demo was better. Though it could be for you. It's a single player, tower defense game with a very beautiful and charming artstyle, great music and good performance. It features a wide range of weapons, pets and buildings. Each can be upgraded to fit your need and defend yourself against the enemies. But all this really doesn't make up for the problems. At least not for me. The gameplay kinda feels boring and repetitive. The main goal is a bit different most of the time but to reach it you must survive the night, at least that's how the game markets itself. But for the first few levels lighting the first fire at all or at the beginning is completely optional. The night won't come as long as the fire isn't lit, which encourages you not to light it with the penalty of not being able to craft ammunition or to respawn. It worked the last few times so you proceed to do it again until you realize that you forgot to leave enough orbs to make hunters, which forces you to restart after having explored the whole level. Neat little game. It is basically Kingdom with guns.

A good game inspired by Kingdom and Kingdom: Two Crowns. There's a few niggling issues like the art style of enemies somehow making it harder to see them, but it was mostly tight knit and fine. I feel like the campaign should have been a bit longer, I hadn't unlocked half the upgrades available before I finished it, which was a bit disappointing with so much variety at your disposal.
