Tiny Breakers Camp

Loved the other game by dev. A lot. This one, not so much. Breaks all the wrong breakout conventions. (Been playing this type of game since DX Ball.) The ball bounces in the wrong direction. There's essentially no control as a result, just ricochet physics. Way way too many unbreakable blocks. Playing tennis with a wall. All the power ups are weak sauce compared to just getting lucky with ball movement. Love the low price plus demo. But this one doesn't feel winnable or comfy. It feels hectic and like I'm being trolled. Not refunding though, nebula makes up for it and this model of low prices plus demos needs to be rewarded though being honest I'd prefer to see something closer to an open source and donate model like free base game with donate zero content DLC, but hey I live in the worst timeline. Kinda shady that all the demo video in the store page is lucky ball placement on the far side of the wall and level ups. Most of game play is not like that, mostly it's just watching your earnings slow fall into the abyss while you're playing tennis with the wall some more off in the corner.

Love this game. This game deserves more reviews, beautiful art. Some negative reviews say repetitive, but I don't really mind that, this game is relaxing and does not require skill to be fun.

The core gameplay revolves around breaking blocks. You control a paddle at the bottom of the screen and use it to bounce a ball upward toward the enemy and the boxes protecting them. Various destructible objects are scattered around the field. Some require multiple hits to break, while others act as invincible obstacles. The objective is not to destroy everything but to break through the defenses and damage the enemy wall, removing all its health before they do the same to you. Each time you lose a ball at the bottom, your wall takes damage. The paddle mechanics are not particularly polished, and the ball’s bounces can feel inconsistent. In most games of this genre, the side or angle of the paddle that the ball hits determines its trajectory. Here, however, the behavior often feels random. For example, the ball might approach from the left, hit the left side of the paddle, and instead of bouncing back left, it continues moving to the right as if nothing changed. Many losses happen because the ball travels in a completely different direction than expected. At other times it gets stuck in shallow angles, bouncing left and right while barely moving up or down. Neat idea, extrapolated to the limits of its design space. Fun for a while, but you can get into some truly drawn-out matches once they introduced mobs that heal and protect the enemy line. For the price it's sold at though, it's hard to be mad.

Pretty, and the core loop concept is alright - but the implementation is absolutely braindead. Levels are the same, and the approach to each level is precisely the same, regardless of the class you have, enemies present, the allies you can summon, and the spells you get. Lazy design as it is.

A great game to play when you just want to relax and do something simple for a little while.
