Retro Endurance 8bit

So i hear the person who made this got a good rep. I see why now after some 1½ hours. It has been a blast even if there is repetition with level ups and coin collecting/unlocks. I suppose a quick game play video peak is all one needs to make a decision if this is a buy. Very cheap price should help as well. EA tag is not to be afraid of. Maybe more content at some point but this far no bugs or anything. Nor do i see directly anything missing. Closest similar game? Warioware. But then not like that but close.

I only bought this to support the guy who created ZSNES, but when I gave it a test play I ended up having way more fun than I thought I would. If you liked UFO 50 you might like this, although if you thought the UFO 50 games were too hard you might like this MORE because it starts off pretty soft and gentle, and then gradually ramps up as you progress through the game's concept (you start off with a small selection of games, and every 10 seconds they swap to the next game and the next, until you finish a small run, and if you get a good enough score it levels you up and throws a new game into the mix on your next run). The dev here definitely has a good grasp of what makes these games fun, and keeps them all simple enough that you can guess your way through each game's playstyle in just a few seconds. Some funny little gags throughout the game too, such as the first boss fight being you trying to save a cute kitty from being run over by a monster truck. Easily worth the price.

Is a fun game. A bit trippy on the eyes with some driving games perspective but the idea is great! I'm glad I found this one on steam (following a very simple story, you play a series of retro games inspired by the 80s arcade & nes classics as they switch on you, that's the tricky part as gameplay jump from one genre to another. as you get enough points to reach one of the top 3 scores you pass to the next level, unlocking each time a new mini-game that stack on the previous one, you have to get used to it but the "level" last enough time to not feel like a chore. I would say each of them is well coded as don't feel like are unbalanced or throwed in just for make numbers. They work as intended, some a bit harder than others but everything is playing with just 1 button and the directional arrows. The Bosses are the best part for me because you get to battle them with 3 out of the games you played to that point. Seems easy at the start but isn't. For what it gives I say well worth the price.

Retro Endurance has a simple main gameplay loop of playing something like five games each letting the player play one of the games for a few seconds before switching another one, then cycling through each game a few times before showing how well (how many points the player earned). The player also earns levels to unlock additional games that get shuffled in. As well as coins based on how well they did to eventually buy 'free play' versions of some of the games that allow the player to just play that game. Every so often there will be a boss fight that uses the mechanics of the latest set of games as a backdrop. To be perfectly honest, I don't cycling through the games and the Warioware shuffling. It is rather disorientating almost every time, and some games are the sort you want to be disoriented and do well. However, I understand why. These are tiny and shallow game experiences on their own. The horizontal shoot 'em up is maybe a 1/3 of something like NES's Lifeforce. The Skiing game has about as much as much going on as the Atari 2600 Skiing game. It's a bite-sized version of a UFO 50-type retro throwback compilation, with all the games thrown in a blender and thrown out at you in rapid succession. It's sort of like WarioWare, where every game is simple but fast enough to really test your skills.
