About Tom Dahl

Montgomery Hills. A small, quiet town in Northern Ontario. The site of one of Canada's largest wildfires, started by one of the town's lifelong residents. The day he set the town on fire was the day he became the monster he is now. The residents who survived all ask the same question: Why? But answers come at a price in Montgomery Hills. He never speaks. He never sleeps. No one ever says his name. But the prisoner has a name and his name is Tom Dahl. You are a rookie cop tasked with keeping watch over Tom Dahl's cell. Your eyes are heavy but you must keep yourself awake long enough to fulfill your duty. Officers swear that things change when they watch Tom. They say they can hear things. See things. There is only one rule with Tom Dahl: Watch him at all times. Survive Tom Dahl's twisted world by confronting the nightmares he creates for you and keep yourself awake long enough to see the light of a new day. Collect forgotten items around the station and speak with the other officers to uncover the truth behind one of Canada's biggest tragedies. He has already gotten out twice. There have already been "accidents". No one wants the job, but everyone has questions. However, the only question you'll be asking yourself is, "Who do you see?"

All those positive reviews convinced me to buy it, but it's just... nothing? Idea sounds intriguing, but doesn't develop to anywhere. The game is not scary at all. Not even creepy. Visual style is funny, voice acting is cool. At moments you're left in the dark with no tips: I genuinely thought the game bugged and after a minute or two of trying to get our I had to start again. Narrative doesn't answer any question and the ending is
abrupt and doesn't mean anything in particular.
It could be a cool demo, but selling it for 23zl... nah.

Tom Dahl is an incredibly tense and fresh horror experience from the talented Bonesaw577. For being a simple sub-hour experience that lets me 100% read/see everything the game has to offer, I am genuinely impressed by the presentation of the scares. They hold and hold until you're drowning in suspense at times, and I think it was quite a genius move to have such a schlocky modern folk tale staged this way, It was a beautiful hour; I wish I could experience it again untainted.

Unsettling in just the right ways for just the right amount of time. What impresses me about Bonesaw577 is his raw precision in curating such an acute experience that unsettles just as much as it narratively captivates. It's such a devilish combo that he's able to consistently ring on me, and I want him to succeed!

This game is one of those games that just makes you go “wow.” You don’t really know what you’re supposed to do at first, and just when you think you’ve figured it out, suddenly you’re doing something completely different. It keeps surprising you in the best way possible. It’s a great quick game you can finish in about 45 minutes. Perfect if you want something short, unique, and memorable. Definitely worth checking out for a quick 45 minute session. The game isn’t perfect, but honestly, it doesn’t even matter. It’s just fun, full of personality, and has a really cool charm to it that most other games completely lack. You can tell the dev put real thought into giving it character. If you want a short game that feels different and actually has a soul, this one’s worth your time.

An enjoyable experience for a game that was made in just 3 hours! Hats off to the developer for doing some unique stuff. I thought this was artful and thought-provoking. Minimal, yes, but what is there matters. Will stick with me! Good game, BoneSaw.
