About Scale the Depths

✦ AI summary

Scale the Depths is a fishing game where you catch increasingly bizarre fish across mysterious locations, scale your catches with care, and serve them to quirky mythical customers to earn money for better gear and boats. The deeper you venture into these strange waters, the more you uncover hidden lore, secrets, and supernatural mysteries that suggest this humble fishing job is far more than it seems.

Catching fish is only the beginning.Cast your line, hunt for the perfect catch, scale it with care, serve it to hungry customers, and turn your hard-earned cash into better gear. Then go deeper. Catch stranger fish. Make more money. Upgrade again. You know, just one more run. Each improvement pushes you further into the depths… and further from whatever counts as normal.
Explore four distinct fishing spots inspired by real places – from Loch Ness to Outer Banks, Point Nemo, and beyond. Each location comes with its own:
  • atmosphere and environment
  • gear
  • fish species
  • hidden paths and secrets
  • puzzles, treasures, and strange things waiting below
The deeper you go, the less this feels like a simple fishing job.Your customers are not human. Some are cute. Some are mythical. Some are exactly the kind of creatures you wouldn’t expect to order dinner from a tiny robot on a boat.Serve wild animals like otters, axolotls, and herons, alongside beings inspired by myth and folklore, including legends such as Nessie and Kelpie. Each customer has their own personality, appetite, and favorite fish.Learn who likes what, deliver the right catch, and you might earn a very generous tip. Serve badly, and… well, they’ll have opinions. There’s more than fish hiding underwater, and definitely more lore than anyone reasonably expects from a game about fishing.Search the depths for:
  • hidden treasures and collectible artifacts
  • messages in bottles
  • secret passages
  • environmental puzzles and levers
Every scrap of old notes and logs brings you a little closer to understanding why this tiny robot is busy fishing in the first place.Progress isn’t just about bigger numbers (although bigger numbers are very nice).Upgrade your fishing gear, unlock better tools, customize your boat, and dress up your tiny robot fishmonger before sending them back into increasingly strange waters.
  • Improve your rods, hooks, bags and scaling tools
  • Unlock new boats and cosmetics
  • Scale tiny fish with increasingly ridiculous tools
  • Look good while feeding ancient beings from the deep
Because if you’re going to prepare fish for strange creatures, you might as well do it in style.

✦ AI summary

Scale the Depths is a relaxing cozy fishing game that players praise for its calming gameplay and charming concept of catching sea creatures to serve to customers, though they note the experience becomes repetitive over extended play. The game offers 2-12 hours of content depending on how thoroughly you engage with it, with reviewers suggesting it's best purchased on sale rather than at full price.

I just finished 100%ing this game and, yeah its okay. I quite like it, the fishing feels very relaxing and something about the idea of catching the terrors of the sea to chop them up and feed them to your hungry customers had me giggling lol. Gameplay does unfortunately get kinda repetitive, but tbf I spent a lot more time in each level than required (because, like already said, I 100%ed it). Speaking of which, fully completing it is fine. It's not eternal searching (which I usually hate), and especially with time you are given more upgrades so that it becomes easier. Depending on how thoroughly you do stuff I'd say playtime is around 2h up to 12h, I took 11h for everything, so that's about 10 bucks (if you pay full price) for an afternoon up to about a days worth of play. Do note though that more content is bound to be added! Game itself is charming, I really like the little puns and information put into it, plus the designs. I like how you go from barely grazing the shallow waters to slowly climbing the depths until you are fighting beasts deep below with ease and know the waters like your own pocket. Difficulty is fine, I almost find it a little bit too easy at the end. Not a…
