About Decktamer

✦ AI summary

Decktamer is a turn-based roguelike where you build your deck by taming defeated monster enemies and descending into an abyss filled with bizarre creatures. Every card you recruit is permanent and brings unique mutant abilities you can combine into devastating synergies, making each run a high-stakes gamble where strategic combo-building and careful deck composition determine if you'll survive the depths.

Deck-building meets monster catching in this turn-based roguelike. Recruit enemy cards to your party as you dive into the depths of the abyss. Will you kill them or will you tame them?
In Decktamer, you'll encounter creatures that have adapted to their strange environment: the abyss. Rumor has it that anyone brave enough to reach the bottom of the giant crater will find great fortune. But watch out, as you dive deeper, the creatures only get more and more bizarre and dangerous...In this game, cards are not simply handed out to you, you have to tame your enemies to add them to your deck! But be careful, when one of your creature dies, the card is gone forever!

Every turn, each one of your cards can use a move. Try to think about the optimal play to win your battle in this turn-based combat system! Will the turn plan out as you expected?

The Abyss is filled with mutant creatures that possess abilities they shouldn't normally have. Use that to your advantage and transfer abilities from one creature to another to create unique and devastating combos!
Only one question remains...
Do you have what it takes to reach the heart of the abyss?

✦ AI summary

Players praise this as a solid deckbuilding roguelike with satisfying mechanics and great monster-taming integration, backed by strong aesthetics and narrative. The main criticism is that it feels somewhat content-light with limited boss variety and replayability that depends heavily on escalating difficulty rather than structural run variety, though the developers' ongoing updates have generated goodwill.

Has potential but is not fun. You get punished for trying out new builds and new teams. Honestly 90% of the fights are fun, but the boss fights at the end arent fun. They are less of a challenge and more of they have too much health, do too much damage and has broken abilities. Most of your units will do in one hit to them. You have to build a perfect counter team. It would be more fun to get rewarded for trying out different strategies. If they remove the boss fights or make them fun, then it would be a positive review.

My only gripe is that it gets pretty stressful for me to play this game lol. The creatures and card art are so beautiful and horrific. Your dudes WILL DIE, so that's a big change up. Like they're expendable. So if you're not into that, then this definitely isn't your kinda game.

✅ Roguelike card game where you can kill or recruit any monsters to join you ✅ Addicting gameplay ✅ Can fully customize monster abilities ✅ Lots of cards to discover and collect ✅ Highly replayable ❌ When using controller, pressing back doesn't exit menu and it was very annoying ❌ When using controller, you can't see what icon means unless you use a mouse and hover over it ❌ Health of monsters doesn't recover after battle

it has a fun combintion of chganging the monsters

Great game, interesting lore, cute and cool monsters, and neat ecological tidbits about them. Cool take on the deckbuilding genre with the syringe mechanic, being able to take a move or passive from one creature and give it too another. You might find it a bit difficult if you are, like me, a "Timmy" in MTG terms
