About Banners of Ruin
Build a party of six diverse characters and battle through a corrupt city using dynamic deck-building and tactical card combat. Each run nets you permanent unlocks that strengthen future attempts, while moral choices and party composition create a roguelike campaign where failure is part of the House Blackfoot's legacy.

The Blackfoots have been dealt a mighty blow by the fearsome House Ender - you must infiltrate their defences and cut out the rot. Build your deck and fight your way through the city of Dawn's Point with card based combat and up to 6 members in your party. Characters loyal to your cause have a set of unique cards and abilities that may augment your deck in powerful, exciting ways. Defeat each of the elite opponents in your path to the city's Guard Captain and cripple the Enders at their core. You and your brethren may fall at this attempt, but there will always be others to carry the torch. House Blackfoot will remember, and they will never relent. Encounter a series of scenarios as you travel through the city which may help you, but at the expense of some moral ground.

- Beavers and Bears? Or Wolves and Weasels? Build a party of up to 6 throughout your run to battle your foes.

- Decisions. Reveal and engage in varying encounters on your journey which can have positive and negative outcomes.
- Fight an increasingly challenging array of enemies with exciting AI behaviours.
- Another failed attempt? Earn tokens after every run to unlock new cards and passives into the game to help you achieve victory.

I rarely post Negative Reviews, so this game really stands out for me in a bad way despite wanting to like it. There are more than a few issues with this game that really hold it back and some that simply can't be ignored. TLDR; - - There are bugs, - The UI is confusing, - It has imbalanced gameplay mechanics - Difficulty issues - Far too random to have any consistent runs - At times just not fun I found myself playing with roughly the same deck on each run, making for a frustrating experience. A bit more indepth... - User Interface I feel the need to call attention to the UI, not only because of its poor design nor its bugs, but because there are instances where the UI will impede the player as well as cause mistakes playing cards. Some cards have a click before you play while others don't. Touching a controller while using MNK causes the cursor to disappear and the screen to conk out. There are no tooltips so navigating and finding things are unintuitive or there are unnecessary steps. Equipment Inventory is a perfect example of this, as it could have easily just been the main party screen. During combat it is difficult to see what status effects do, and how…1 found this helpful
I love this game so much I bought it twice -- first on Prime gaming, but Prime doesn't implement upgrades, so I have been unable to get the "heroes" upgrades. So, I bought it a few years later on Steam, where those upgrades are obtainable. This game is a fun strategy-card game challenge and I never tire of it; even when I frequently lose before defeating the warden.1 found this helpful
Great deckbuilder with an immersive atmosphere that somehow manages to feel a tad too shallow. Would love to see a sequel with tons more content.1 found this helpful

I don't play a lot of deckbuilders, so take my two cents with a grain of salt, but I truly do not understand the mixed reviews. I bought it this summer sale and I've had a blast so far. My learning curve was steep and painful, RNG will never be my friend and I still make silly mistakes. But all in all it's a fun game, I really like the art style and it does have a lot of replay value, all while running great on the steam deck.
Thematically the game easily beats any other roguelike deckbuilder out there. The visuals, world building, and music really hit the spot. Sadly the gameplay itself falls short of an expected standard; progression is really slow, combat while introducing interesting concepts lacks variety and depth, and overall the whole "game" part of the game feels very unfinished. It's the kind of game I really want to like and I kind of do enjoy booting up, but end up finding it really difficult to continue for more than 15 minutes in one session.
