Outnumbered and outgunned, fight your way through fortified military installations and shut down the enemy's war machine. Only then will the fate of humanity be known.

Mission Pack: The Reckoning
In the first official expansion pack for Quake II, you are part of an elite commando force that must infiltrate a Strogg site. Once inside, you must scour industrial landscapes, crawl through waterways and air ducts, navigate treacherous canyons teeming with vicious mutants, stow away on an alien spacecraft, and destroy the enemy's secret moon base.
Mission Pack: Ground Zero
In the second official expansion pack for Quake II, you, and a few marines are the lucky ones. You've made it to the surface of Stroggos in one piece and are still able to contact the fleet. The Gravity Well, the Strogg's newest weapon in its arsenal against mankind, is operational. With the fleet trapped around Stroggos, only 5% of ground forces surviving, and that number dwindling by the second, your orders have changed: free your comrades and destroy the Gravity Well.

What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Great mass group arena thriller. The maps are different, some are pathy and roomy, and some have arena spots. Lots of different maps and different playing styles. Movements are fluid and static, but contort when compared to Quake Champions, which can be a little warpy, slick, watery, and loose. Weapons are classic 90's thrill/horror style, with chainsaws, railguns, machine guns, warp and zap weapons, and grenade launchers and missiles. There's no mission theme in the arena part, other than obliterating everyone off the map. Great thrill/gore/horror game that's fun, quick, and always a blast to play. Another great thing about this version is the load times are really quick, almost instant. Quake Champions takes 2-6 minutes to load a game, whereas this game, it loads instantly after each battle, no waiting around.
Thanks Steam, I can play Quake 2, with modern hardware, widescreen etc, with nightmare bots and friends without tinkering and configuring or downloading mods. All in one place, WORKING! What a blast Im having :)
The work Nightdive put in towards the enemy ai behavior and tactics, which was originally how it was designed but never finished by id back in the day, pulls insane weight towards making this game feel way more action packed and having a dynamic foe to fight.
Best oldschool shooter
Old but still very relevant game! Believe it or not, takes a healthy system to run...
the worst ♥♥♥♥ that ever infected my life
