"GT Racing 1980" is a solid, action-packed retro arcade racer heavily inspired by the top-down racing games of the 80s and 90s. Combining a stylish retro aesthetic with a pumping soundtrack, the game is ideal for quick, pick-up-and-play races. The game features a top-down perspective as you master classic race tracks. The controls take some getting used to, focusing on an arcade-style implementation designed to help you find your optimal flow. A wide variety of tracks and lovingly crafted vehicle models ensure plenty of variety. Solid graphics—featuring stylish backgrounds, detailed menus, and stable performance that renders even rapid camera movements smoothly—round out the package. The driving synth-heavy, retro soundtrack perfectly underscores the classic 80s flair. It offers tremendous fun for short gaming sessions, boasts a great soundtrack, and delivers a genuine dose of nostalgia. However, the vehicle handling might not be to everyone's taste and can become somewhat frustrating when precise maneuvers are required. Recommended for anyone who enjoys this style of racing game.

A friend of mine bought a Fanatical bundle that included this game. He's not a racing game guy; but, he knows that I am so he gave me the key. I'm not sure if I should check the "Received product for free" box or not because I received it for free; but, it was not given to me by the developer or publisher. Somebody paid for it. With that out of the way, I have a few thoughts to share. It's not a perfect game by any stretch; but, it is a fun game. I've put a little over 12 hours into it so far and I've pretty much beaten it. I've unlocked and bought all the cars. I've won all three Divisions, beat all the Rivals, and conquered all of the Invitational races. It only started getting boring within the last hour, and that consisted of me replaying a few things trying to figure out why the Achievement didn't work. What I Like: > The graphics and camera options look really good for what they are. It's retro without being painfully so. It has modern shadows and textures. I really like the option of a modern rally style rear mounted camera, although the 80's side-mount camera works well too. Another graphical flourish that I like is that each car has a custom tachometer …

Its not a good game, total waste of money, I've been playing racing games since 1992 and this is one of the worst!

What kind of retro game doesnt even allow for keyboard controls in the main menu? The ugly AI "art" and cheap, zero effort menu graphics are atrocious. I'm furious I even own this game. I'd give this game a million negative reviews if I could.
