Whiskers, Wizards and Wands

Adorable concept and adorable execution! Whiskers Wizards and Wands winds up playing like a soft-core Zelda-like, with light combat, accessible puzzle solving and a unique and quirky wand building system. In it you play as Juniper, a magical cat with a plethora of spells, and have to save the world from an elemental calamity. You'll use numerous segments of wands to combine them into unique spells to solve puzzles and battle monsters. I also particularly love the hand-drawn art style that the devs mention. Everything was built in Godot and animated from actual paper drawn assets. AI be damned. Overall a fun, cozy experience I'd recommend to casual players!

Adorable game. Cutest hand drawn (!!) art. I easily got into the game and immediately knew what to do to progress further. I think building your own wands is so fun too! Absolutely recommend.

This game is super cute! I just wanted to play something easy going and this was perfect. The controls are simple and the wand upgrades are fun to mix and match. It reminds me of the types of games I'd play online after school as a kid. If you like simple dungeon battles and exploration its up your alley :)

While I like a lot of the game, including the concept and most of the game itself, there are multiple issues that have led to a frustrating experience. The game has completely crashed numerous times and I've lost spells that I can't get back and that you need to get to other areas like the final boss. You can progress through some areas without completing the tasks, which has led me to believe I was finished when I actually wasn't and the game won't tell you you're missing something. The directions aren't always clear and I've spent a lot of time wandering around confused. When you return to an area, the characters act like you haven't been there and you may have to redo what you did. Some of the character sprites such as for the students didn't show up at all and I didn't realize that I was supposed to talk to a character which caused me to look around for longer than intended. The controls work on the Steam Deck but they're clunky. You use the B button to go through portals but also to dash and move quicker so it's very easy to fall off the edge and get sent back to a checkpoint. Some of the Steam achievements aren't registering. Other achievements are locked to playtesters…
