Shadowgate™: The wind whistles through the halls as you step through the stone threshold. You’ve just entered Shadowgate, a once shining castle, now an evil, dark smouldering ruin. Swallow your fear and take up your torch. You are the ‘Seed of Prophesy’ and in your hand lies the fate of the world itself.
The Uninvited™: The last thing you remember was a figure appearing in the middle of the road and the sound of your sister’s screams over the screeching tires. When you come to, you discover two horrifying things: your sister is missing and the mansion that now looms before you seems to be calling your name…
Déjà Vu™: It’s 1942 and you wake up in a seedy bathroom with no idea how you got here or, for that matter, who you are. You grab a .38 hanging on the door, stumble up the stairs and find some stiff slumped over a desk with three bullet holes in him. You check your gun. Three bullets are missing. This is gonna be a bad day.

8-bit Adventure Anthology: Volume I, is a compilation of classic 8-bit games from the NES era of gaming, featuring remakes of Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and The Uninvited. This anthology is typically reasonably priced usually less than 10 USD, has full controller support, allows for steam achievements, and really brings you back to the days of classic gaming. I spent many an hour replaying Deja Vu and Shadowgate as a kid, so getting to experience these again as an adult, without an emulator, and sharing these games with my family sharing was a rewarding nostalgic experience. Of course, not everyone enjoys 8-bit gems like these, especially younger audiences that are used to hyper-reality graphics, but there is something about the classics that really bring me back to what excited me about gaming when I was a kid. As far as these being "remakes" I mean yeah they are remade in the sense they are ported for the PC and have a menu system that is styled 8-bit to keep the feel and they did try to make the games feel like you are playing them on classic tv's from the era, but the games are pretty faithful to the original in every other sense. Bought this for my favorite game Shadowgate.
I wonder if a volume 2 will ever be released 🤔 If so, hopefully Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom is part of it! I used to watch my brother play it a lot when we were but wee lads and I'd like to play it again myself!
