A Game About Making A Planet

[h2]Too Similar[/h2] This game shares a lot of similarities with the black hole game and doesn't really [i]gravitate[/i] towards me. Kinda sucky. Wish it was more unique.

short but sweet, not sure why people are complaining about substance when the game advertises itself as short.

It was difficult deciding whether to leave a positive or negative review, as my experience is mixed. The physics system was decent, the upgrades were reasonably impactful, the price is a tad bit high for how little content is given although not too unreasonable, and the overall concept is charming. The execution just seemed lacking, overall. It quickly started feeling more like a chore to finish the game, rather than a fun gaming experience that I desired more of. [List] [*]The music was monotonous and becomes stale quickly. [*]The gameplay loop was too repetitive with little playstyle variation between beginning and end. [*]The text popup is obnoxious, as it blocks a 6th of the screen during the first click each level start, depriving the player of proper strategizing for the first click. Making it semi-transparent, shrinking it significantly, or even having it fade out after a few seconds could easily fix that. [*]Some of the upgrades don't make much sense and could benefit from a tooltip explanation. I 100%'d all the achievements, yet still have no idea what the moon upgrade ever did for me. This is the first game I don't think I will complete. I only got up to level 2 and have just under 40 minutes of playtime and am so so bored of this. I don't even know why, I guess it is just because the game is really repetitve and it does not feel like you gain much when you purchase a upgrade. Personally this game is not for me, maybe it will be for you though.

This feels a bit more basic than A Game About Feeding a Black Hole (which is admittedly an unfair comparison since they're both made by different devs), but I do think it's fair to say that this is inspired by that. The UIs feel pretty placeholder, but the actual mechanics & game modes are decent overall. I'd give an extra half a star or so if there was an update that replaced the UIs and/or added some more content, but this is still worth playing as-is imo.
