Planet Harvester: Incremental Odyssey

Genuinely surprised that I enjoyed this one, but it was pretty good. It's another one of your 4-5 hour incrementals with upgrades and grinding. But the levels don't outstay their welcome and the upgrades do feel plenty punchy. You start off with a big sawblade on the front of your car, then you can shoot it out from you, then you get lasers that target resources around you... And there's a whole lot more after that I won't spoil. Your goal is to drive around a level gathering resources and using them to get upgrades. That then let you get more resources, so more upgrades, so on and so forth. The game did feel a bit of a slog occasionally, but for the most part it was a good time. The sawblade up front could do with more damage, maybe a bonus to damage if you're using the nitro so you're not crashing into things all the time. But other than that, I did enjoy myself. One thing I love in a game like this, is that majority of the achievements were things I was doing anyway. And the ones that weren't, were easy enough and didn't require much RNG if any. I know not everyone cares about achievements.... but I do. I feel like the developer could do more with this game, maybe make it …

Legitimate achievement slop ( 1-2 meaningless achievements per minute for the first hour ) The game becomes a full-on grind once starting the third world. The damage scaling is so off that often you end repeating runs without being able to purchase any upgrades. Maybe this wouldn't matter if there was more depth to the gameplay, but... Instead of interesting upgrades/choices involving your main saw and harvesting, they add a bunch of random standard guns to your vehicle, which makes the game an autopilot bullet heaven, but with none of the dynamic combos or fun gameplay.

Really fun Incremental I bought on a whim and completed in about 4-5 hours. No big hitches along the way, a very smooth, rewarding progression. That let me be a little more 'active' in controlling the action, which I appreciate. Definitely recommend to people looking for their next Incremental fix!

This is a great game! I wish it was longer because i enjoyed it so much. hopefully a 2nd one in the future? maybe? :)
