Aces of the Galaxy™

Aces of the Galaxy is a high-velocity, on-rails space shooter that leans heavily into arcade sensibilities, prioritizing speed, spectacle, and nonstop action over depth or open-ended design. From the moment you jump into the captured alien fighter, the game wastes no time setting its tone: bright neon trails, swarms of enemy craft, sudden debris fields, and chaotic bursts of laser fire all bombard the screen in a way that immediately recalls classic arcade shooters. The plot is deliberately thin — you’re escaping the Skurgian Armada after hijacking one of their ships — but it’s merely a springboard for the game’s real focus: an intense procession of action sequences designed to keep your reflexes locked into constant motion. The core gameplay loop revolves around navigating predetermined flight paths while destroying waves of enemy ships using an assortment of weapons. You have access to a rapid-fire chain cannon for sustained damage, homing cluster missiles for multi-target takedowns, and slower but powerful torpedoes capable of ripping through larger foes. if you like Star Fox on the old snes days then this right up there in on rail shooter

I like space.

One of my all time favorite games from the XBOX live Arcade. But sadly, on steam, it lacks compatibility with mouse and keyboard, in fact it doesn't read most clicks while moving. Still works fine on controller. Still incredible music.

This game DOES support Xbox controller. Starfox meets Galaxy Force II meets Afterburner meets Galaga meets Silpheed meets Space Harrier! I really liked this game! Consider this coming from a old school shmup lover. I don't know how I missed this game but I have to say that it's quite ahead of it's time. It's fairly easy until you get to mission 4 then the game picks up in difficulty quite a bit. It's definitely worth the price on sale! I am not sure how it got mixed reviews, maybe it's because of the "on rails" action but the game gives you tons of freedom in it's movement similar to Star Fox. Give it a try if you are into those types of games, it more than likely won't disapoint!
