Adam and Eve: The Game - Chapter 1

A really bad platformer game. There is no settings menu and the controls are not the best but my main gripe with it is the dumb life system. There are 25 levels and you share 3 lives (with the opportunity to get some more every once in a while) between all of them which means if you lose all your lives you are starting right from the beginning of the game again. And when there is some stuff in the game that insta kills you it is just infuriating. Linux version of the game works without any issues.

It's a good thing this game doesn't have achievements to make my OCD brain play until the very end because this game is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ masterpiece. The distance between jump gaps are say 10 meters. You have to be on the exact edge of the first platform, mind you don't fall off, to just barely make it to the next because your jump distance is also 10 meters. If the next platform is raised above you, then it's even more of a challenge. I made it to about level 4 when instead of going from left to right, you have to go from top to bottom. That's where the game becomes a nightmare because of you just randomly dying in mid air moments after your foot leaves the edge for no apparent reason. I couldn't figure out why, so when I eventually lost all my lives and was sent back to the very beginning of the game, not the level, that's when I decided to call it quits. And before I forget, the so called "Catchy Soundtrack" is from everyone's good buddy Kevin MacLeod.

Worst platformer I've ever played : D The game doesn't have such basic elements as an in-game menu.. there's only "press start to play the game", and you just play the game. The tutorial's messages are a little bit too late, but it honestly doesn't matter anyway. The game has the most basic controls I've ever seen in any video game ever.. you only need to use the three out of four of the directional arrows... you can't even duck in the game, something which even Super Mario Bros from 1985 had... I have no idea why most people complain about the controls' responsiveness, I had no problem playing the game on a keyboard. I guess the game's controller responsiveness is to blame? Even though the game advises you to play with a controller for the best experience... Speaking of the first SMB, the game's "gameplay" is based on that of the aforementioned game. You can collect 100 fruit to "generate life". Just like Mario needs 100 coins to get an extra life. Instead of green mushrooms, you've got... doves. Well I didn't need to play the game for more than 15 minutes to make the decision stop playing the game., With all the respect to 2D games, I do believe it has a nice story but I didn't like how the whole game looks like. Very dark, not very much things. I know it's just a chapter of a whole game, but still. I can find other good 2D Casual games to play if I want, But don't mind me. I'm just making my opinion. Try the game if you'd like.

This game is such a frustrating mess, it almost feels deliberate. The difficulty is obvious: one hit deaths, no continues after losing all your lives, but it goes so much deeper than that. The hitboxes are brutal, it really feels like you have to give several pixels of space to any obstacle you don’t want to hit. The obstacles also blend into the background. I kept running into the spiky things on the first level because they used multiple sprites that hide in the grass and trick your eyes. At least those weren’t one-hit deaths, though. The vines, though? The thin ones curling around the platforms that look like they could break if you came in contact? I kept finding ways to brush against them and die. In a fair world, punishing obstacles would be offset by decent control. The jumps are awkward, but not the worst to control, like it’s not too heavy or too floaty. However, you can’t run and jump, because if you come to the edge of a platform, you will slip and fall off. Yet that isn’t even the worst issue. There are some platforming sections where it looks like you can jump to another path or skip a platform going in a different direction. Those empty, harmless looking…
