Something I enjoy about Geno Samuel's documentary is how he approaches Chris with a detached kind of anthropology. It is easy to poke fun of and laugh at lolcows, and I think for a lot of people it ends there. But there's something kind of horrible about lolcow content where it becomes self-reflective if you're capable of that level of honesty with yourself. This game captures that sort of feeling. While I found myself disgusted by the protagonist, I didn't really hate him for it. You are entering the mind of a sick individual, but I think it's rather obvious this is not some twisted self-insert fantasy. This fits more into an art-house exploration of 4chan / incel internet culture, coupled with some stylistic design choices that I think suit the genre of VN horror perfectly. The visual novel inside the visual novel did take me out of myself for a while. Playing the game within the game was a nice touch, and the author is a good writer. Most of this game feels intentional, and I think shines best in how visceral its horror becomes for the player. Real body horror ♥♥♥♥. The game is edgy. Very edgy. I hate the protagonist. He's a right wing misogynistic loser who's a complete POS to his family. I can't think of a single positive trait about this guy. In about the first 20 minutes, I decide that I really want to get my character killed. I [i]really[/i] hate this guy; his life story or whatever doesn't matter to me. And then I succeeded? I think? There seems to be some loop going on, but screw that. I'm saying I succeeded. Oh, and did I mention how edgy the player character is? It's like he's actively trying to be an awful person with absolutely everything he does. He doesn't make a single good decision, at any time. This game is exhausting, edgy, gross, and predictable. So I'm giving this a thumbs down.

This game was made by my friend and there’s a helping of bias in saying so, but [i]AFK_GF[/i] is a very satisfying and enjoyable experience worth your time and money. The characters are funny and interesting, the dialogue is witty and endlessly quotable, and the art and music make for surprisingly seamless and immersive gameplay. [i]AFK_GF[/i] has fairly mature themes and a rather vulgar setting and tone so make sure that’s something you’re okay with before jumping into it. The game is short but jam-packed with extra endings, bonus material, music and art. If you explore for a while you’ll find some of the best that [i]AFK_GF[/i] has to offer and it’s quite good. Getting to see into the ripped-apart psyches of these characters (particularly with Joseph and Jessica) is wildly entertaining and something that I hope part two of [i]Logical Inconsistencies[/i], the publisher’s other work, will also exemplify. Getting to see how all of your different dialogue selections end you up in crazy situations like a choose your own adventure novel from middle school is really fun and I’m glad I played through it. Game kinda reminds me of Emily is Away, if Emily is Away was less emotionally depressing and more just Fed up as hell with meme culture brats on drugs. Seriously the game is full of the most whiny and toxic people you can imagine. But the art, interface and sound effects are all well done. It looks like its shaping up to be a promising game and it is interesting. I just really can't stand these kind bratty punks who talk about slitting their own throat or someone elses. Yea slicing wrists is one thing but no emo on this planet is gonna act like they can just slit their own throat. Do you know how painful that would be? Anyway, its a weird game full of very obnoxious and offensive punks and braindead girls who buy into all the self shaming. Its pretty much whats wrong with the world so, fits into the horror genre nicely.
