Alien Blitz is an indie action shooter that embraces a classic arcade-inspired formula while adding modern progression mechanics to keep players invested over the long term. Developed and published by Jean-Baptiste Simillon, the game places players in the middle of an extraterrestrial invasion where a once-peaceful island becomes the target of hostile alien forces. Rather than focusing on an elaborate storyline, the game immediately throws players into the action, relying on fast-paced combat and constant enemy encounters to drive the experience forward. This straightforward approach works well for the genre, allowing the gameplay to remain the center of attention from beginning to end. The core gameplay combines top-down shooting with bullet-hell influences, creating battles that demand both quick reflexes and careful positioning. Enemy projectiles frequently flood the screen, forcing players to dodge incoming attacks while simultaneously eliminating waves of alien creatures. The action remains consistently energetic, and the increasing number of enemies creates a satisfying sense of escalation as players progress through the campaign. Alien Blitz is basically a knockoff of Doom as a top-down shooter. Somehow, it's not even the only game I've played along these lines, but it's a pretty distinctly mediocre one, with oddly grindy weapon upgrade mechanics, bullet sponge bosses, and dubious level design, which are all negative departures from, well, Doom. Also, the Steam Workshop functionality has either been disabled or was never enabled. Not recommended.

This game is amazing!!! A little rough around the edges as they say, but if you’re the type of gamer who likes to poke around looking for secrets, and aren’t turned off by the graphic style, you’ll love it! I’d love to see a remake of this one day, with a graphic style something like uragun, or armored cavalry.

I wanted to give this little game a thumbs up, but honestly I can't. If this was a mobile game, I absolutely would. As a PC game, I can't. The controls are tight, the game itself is mechanically sound and sort of fun. The problem is that this has not aged well. It's hard to spot enemies as everything is a box. That, to me is a major design flaw rather than reflecting the difficulty of the game. (It's not difficult, it actually seems fair and balanced If I could leave a neutral review, I would. It's not bad, it's not good. It's a game.
