About Alien Breed 3: Descent

✦ AI summary

Descend into a sinking alien spacecraft as engineer Conrad in this third-person arcade shooter, fighting through flooded corridors and devastating alien swarms with powerful upgradeable weapons. The final chapter combines intense single-player story missions with cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, all wrapped in stunning visuals and packed with brutal alien encounters and epic boss battles.

Alien Breed™ 3: Descent is the final explosive chapter in the Alien Breed™ series, and is a science fiction arcade-shooter with an epic story, swarms of highly intelligent alien enemies, high-impact weapons and stunning environments, developed using Epic Games' Unreal® Engine 3. Descend into hell and once again take control of the hero, Conrad, the ship’s Chief Engineer, in his last stand against the savage alien horde. While the doomed vessel, the Leopold, and the alien space craft plunge deeper into the planet’s atmosphere, with an icy ocean promising a watery grave, you have just hours to defy a grisly death and survive the alien onslaught for the final time. As you struggle deeper into the sinking alien ship, through the freezing waters flooding every corridor, the horrifying truth surrounding the existence of the Breed is finally uncovered… In addition to the thrilling conclusion to the single-player campaign and the relentless and competitive “Survivor” modes, the game offers action-packed, two-player online co-operative battle modes.

Just like the previous two, I attempted to reinstall and verify my files but still didn't work. Oh well. If they ever made a 4th game maybe fourth time is the charm?

The game is not bad, quite short, but that's good because it gets repetitive quickly. The story is not bad. The explosions could have been smaller and the controls more stable. For me, the big minus is the upgrade system. Too small and too expensive. There are only three upgrades for the hero, for each weapon there are also three, but you can only use one and most always for more power. And nothing is saved if you start a free game. The prologue is a separate level from the campaign and is activated separately. Best with a discount. It just copies the review from the first game and there's not much difference anyway. Two weapon has been renewed and the bazooka is bad for playing in what is most often a narrow space. There are arenas but they are not anything special. Good story and the same gameplay without any improvements. It just copies the first and second reviews. Two new weapons in place of the last two from the previous game. A difference from the previous one, more fierce. But no new improvements. It would be great if all three games were one.

https://youtu.be/X6oojPiFGNE One game stretched across three titles with little to no variation in the mechanics or systems between them.

Short review after completing the game on hardest (elite) difficulty: i will not go into full details as this is direct continuation of the first and second game and plays the same, so pros and cons from my first review apply also here. I will however mention some differences in this game. Pros: - They finally added some new aliens, still not a lot but an improvement - This last game has a nice cinematic feel, some levels like tight corridors or outside in vacuum of space are very nice - The main villain mocks and talks to you a lot breaking up the monotony - 2 new guns added to the rooster Cons: - Camera is bad in tight spaces and cinematic combat making it really hard to aim - The 2 new guns can either be really powerful or in a different situation totally useless - No new soundtrack The third game is probably the strongest one of all three. If i rate the whole trilogy then i can say that i do recommend the purchase of this games, they are cheap, easy to play and do not pretend to be something else.

Alien Breed 3: Descent is a fitting if flawed conclusion to the trilogy — the atmosphere is genuinely tense, the weapons feel satisfying, and the story finally kicks into gear with a brutal final boss that made it feel worth the ride. That said, by the time I reached this third episode, the repetitive level design was really wearing me down: you spend most of your time running fetch quests across identical corridors, flipping switches and backtracking through the same copy-pasted ship sections. The constant screen shaking from explosions is legitimately fatiguing, and the forced camera angles in set-piece moments make an already clunky control scheme feel even worse. If you've made it through the first two games and want closure on Conrad's story, this delivers that — but go in knowing it's more of the same, for better and worse.
