Alienautics is a good third-person-shooter in early-access. It tells an interesting sci-fi story in form of ingame cinematics. The handling is good, the shooting nice and impactful, but a bit difficult to learn, platform jumping is a bit slippery. The game is in general not an easy one, the enemies are hard and mastering all the cover-mechanics and the shield is a must to stay alive, this gives the game a strategic touch. But if you die, a checkpoint is always near, so it is no real pain. The music and the sound effects are good. The graphics are very nice and clean, but a bit outdated. Sadly the game uses a third-party launcher, which produce no problems, but i would prefer a game without this kind of software. For an early-access title it is in a good state, the first part is fully playable, i found no major bugs. Check my gameplay video to see, if this is a game for you. Alienautics is a third-person shooter in space. Board your ship and accomplish missions in third-world planets. I believe a lot of effort was put into this game but there is still a lot of work to be done to fix some game bugs and mechanics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3GaU0wpa0E Pros - Environments - Boss fights - Cutscenes Cons - Game mechanics (movement delay, you will die a lot) - Game Bugs (lots of them in first map: jumping through ceiling; shooting boss through glass, enemies getting stuck) - Game login: Might be an inconvenience for some. Only needs to be done once.7 found this helpful
This game is a learning process for an inexperienced developer, however their is potential in the future. The controls could sure use some work, jumping being the main cause for concern. Shift + W + Space is not very efficient and intuitive. The aesthetic is consistent, yet very basic. In short, a learning game, maybe worth a buy for upcoming developers.5 found this helpful
full disclosure: i got a review copy of this game provided. I’m impressed with how far this single indie developer has gotten working by himself. I got about 45 min in. I'd test it out more if i was younger but I don't have a lot of time for gaming these days. I think the shooting is pretty solid and the platforming is a little janky, but I know platforming and jumping physics are also very difficult to dial in so considering that its pretty good for early access. It obviously is a little primitive compared to a lot of new titles out there, but the dev's very committed and very communicative and grinding away at this actively, so it's a good pickup if you enjoy seeing a game come together and monitoring its progress at this point, or even being involved with where it goes through your feedback.2 found this helpful
Initial review after beating the first boss. This is a game with a lot of potential. It has its bugs, of course, and I've spoken with the Dev on this. As a work in progress, it looks like it could be pretty good with some time and a few updates. The sound and enemy design were pretty good. There were some things I wasn't expecting, but that's the role of a good game dev. Keeping the audience on their toes. I will have to continue to play this game to see how I truly feel about it. But as it is, it's an interesting game. One I'll be sure to keep my eye on.2 found this helpful
I recieved a key for the early-access and played through the available missions. The strategic cover based combat was alot of fun to me, learning the mechanics was satisfying and very challenging at times. The Story is compelling and it makes you wonder what's still to come when the game is released. I havn't played many early-access games in my past but I think the price is too high at the moment.1 found this helpful
