About All Quiet in the Trenches

1915, World War I, Western Front. As a German Unteroffizier, you are responsible for a group of soldiers. Whether they will survive the war is in your hands. Welcome to the trenches, Herr Unteroffizier!

The time in the camp is marked by heavy labor with an insecure supply situation. Is there enough time for the men to rest? Can they process the horrors they have experienced and mourn the fallen?

Your decisions between the needs of the soldiers and the demands of the superiors result in a unique story each time. But your choices don't change the war. They change the life of your soldiers.

The chaos of war threatens the physical and mental well-being of the soldiers. Again and again you have to make decisions in an attempt to face the fatal coincidences of the battlefield.

I enjoyed the game immensely! The senseless destruction on an industrial scale and war for the sake of war is seen here much closer than RTS titles, but way more detachedly than a FPS where your own survival and performance takes all your attention and there is little to no consideration to what happens inbetween battles. Sure enough, leading the trench assaults is the easiest part if one has sufficient tactical sense for squad-level actions. But you are then shocked by realizing the obvious: you and your squad don't just despawn until the next battle. Your whole existence is a battle now. Rations and munitions has to be procured, even under fire. Sentries have to be posted, patrols sent, mud cleared from the dugouts, lice get ridden of, trenches rebuilt, ailments taken care of... and much much more. Who will you send? Who can you trust? What do you prioritize when all seem pressing and no outside hands available, your squad left to your leadership and care alone? Above all, how can the mission be completed in the face of the general burnout and shortages of everything? All quiet in the trenches has been so far tremendously revealing: while playing i pictured vividly the cruel ra…

Let me set the scene, Fall of 1916(no idea what difficulty I'm on, or if there is one, my first playthrough) My contingent of 6 men are cream of the regular crop. Medics, melee and firearms trained and proficient. With a camaraderie to match the elites of old. Over the last two years, lotze was lost during a risky assault to suppress and neutralize a MG nest. To add, he was more than avenged. And penderson? Something of the like, deserted the men. Never liked him, and his replacement was certainly an upgrade. But otherwise the men have maintained cohesion. It has been hard, they have seen a lot. But they have endured. And their feats are quite the tale. They've taken over a dozen prisoners after subduing them, killed and wounded closer to a dozen and a half more. Taken multiple mg nests and rooted out and charged, beaten back many french contingents. They've completed every objective set out by the lieutenant on the Field despite the risks. And save for the first engagement we retreated from and the first failed counterattack(we did our part by the way) We haven't lost since. We are the lieutenants crack troops and he respects us. The unterofficier, an interesting fello…

very fun, shows the often under spoken aspects of ww1, doesn't have the "Battlefield series" problem where there's friggen super people as the main character. The game freezes up sometimes when you end a turn in combat, especially after issuing the "throw grenade" order (it seems like the pathing for the assigned soldier to throw the grenade gets bugged" and the game feels a little empty, in that there's all of like 6 squads per team on what is basically half a mile of trench line. overall very down to earth and has a lot of potential

It's defenitley buggy and needs a lot of polish, but it's without a doubt a gem in the rough
