Alone in the Dark (2008) (2013)

Don't buy it keeps crashing. Can't even start the game or access the display settings.

This is an old, nostalgic game from the PS2 era that holds a lot of special memories for me; when I discovered it was available on Steam, I bought it immediately to relive those childhood moments. There’s another game called *Black*—also originally for the PS2—but unfortunately, it isn't on Steam. Overall, it’s a great game; it was truly exceptional for its time and packed with detail. I bought it because of the nostalgia, but it’s still worth playing today—especially for those who remember it—though there is one issue with playing it, which I’ll mention.➤.➤.➤ .➤.➤.➤Go to Main folder of Alone in the Dark and right click of the "Alone.exe" - settings - Compatibility mode and change to Window 95 and "Run with Admin rights" if that doesnt work , try changing to windows 8 , that worked for me.

Alone in the Dark is one of the more unusual survival-horror games of its era. The 2008 reboot attempts an impressive number of ideas, combining horror, exploration, physics-based puzzles, driving, environmental interaction, and an episodic television-style presentation. Some of those ideas work surprisingly well. Others make the game far more frustrating than it needed to be. The story follows Edward Carnby as he awakens in New York City with little understanding of what is happening around him. Central Park soon becomes the center of a supernatural catastrophe involving demonic creatures, mysterious artifacts, and secrets connected to Edward's past. The game's greatest strength is its ambition. Rather than relying entirely on conventional weapons, Alone in the Dark encourages experimentation. Everyday objects can become useful tools, and items can be combined to create improvised weapons. Flammable liquids, tape, ammunition, sprays, cloth, and other objects have practical uses beyond simply filling an inventory. Fire is especially impressive.
