I have no clue how this one ended up in my library so I guess I may have received it for free at some point? lol Pros: - Lots of replayability with lots of different collectibles, achievements, and stats you can compete against yourself to improve, as well as 3 difficulties - Mildly entertaining thriller/murder mystery story - Actually very tense atmosphere, lots of good jumpscares, especially toward the beginning before you get used to it Cons: -very linear level design with little reward for exploring outside of the collectibles, invisible walls everywhere - I softlocked and had to go back to old checkpoints like 4 times in my first playthrough, twice because of sequence breaks(dying and respawning in locked hallways without the means to unlock myself), and twice because of clipping through geometry by accident and not being able to pop back out - Anticlimactic ending - Lots of assets popping in and out of existence - Copaganda, horrible politics, including the literal and metaphorical dehumanization of those suffering through addiction and homelessness. Characters that do not suffer those things are given names, investigations, moments where their deaths are mourned and reflecte…

For an outdated game, the visuals in the cinematography are very well done and captivating. The story line is excellent and the voice acting to the game script is very believable without a single line of dialogue coming across as "cheesy" or fake. (There's a line here or there that is a little bit too on the nose and probably could have been cut from the game, but no big deal) Reasonable graphics. The use of shadows and darkness definitely add to the dark dingy & "spooky" atmosphere. The real time combat is very well done. The fights are challenging and almost seems like the NPC's are guessing your next move, which makes combat with them alot of fun.

Recommended. A grimy first-person forensic-horror brawler whose weighty improvised-weapon combat and unobserved-mannequin dread hold up two decades on, scuffed by inconsistent blocking and port nonsense. Pipes, fire axes, shovels and even a paper cutter carry real damage, speed and reach stats, the taser stun opens enemies for finishing blows, and crime-scene investigation (UV lights, spectrometers, evidence collection) stitches neatly into the brawling. Enemies kill each other in near-slapstick fashion, and the department-store sequence still delivers its slow-burn reputation. Blocking feels inconsistent and unfair from start to finish, default movement is slow, and the final boss binds a grab prompt to a number key the game never otherwise uses, forcing a mid-fight internet search. Dated PC-port rough edges (missing files, no widescreen without tinkering) come with the territory. The atmosphere and combat weight earn the recommendation regardless.

one of the best action survival horror series ever. just wish had controller Native souport.
