About Animallica

Animallica is an adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world where Earth hangs in the balance, after a wicked, deadly virus was unleashed upon all of its creatures.

The Story:

As the lone survivor in the last conservation center on Earth you must navigate the many available biomes to fulfill your mission of creating a facility responsible for gathering and maintaining the remaining animals on Earth. You have very little to start with but your wits and some meager scavenged supplies.

Craft & Survive:

The world is in chaos, bands of scavenging human raiders and mutated creatures are everywhere. You begin to craft survival gear and weapons along with finding shelter, food and water.

Explore the World:

As you travel using an abandoned hot air balloon and explore on foot or on horseback, you find a world of varied landscapes and opportunities and countless dangers. From the grasses of an African Savannah to tall Alpine mountains, Egyptian deserts, and Asian-themed gardens, the world is still full of beauty, but danger is everywhere.

Save the Animals:

Animals in need are all diseased and must be tranquilized, cured, and tamed if they have a chance of survival. Do you cure and release them, keep them in a more zoo-like setting or in a large park-like sanctuary? The choice is yours, but they need your help!

Build your Settlement:

Will you build a large settlement with all available crafting stations and large, well-furnished houses? There is a flat biome perfect for you. Maybe you would rather be nomadic and use the few crafting stations available through the different biomes while focusing on the animals. You can do that. There is no linear progression and the amount of time you spend gathering, crafting or collecting animals is up to you. You will need to do all of these to succeed, but how and when is your choice.

Trade:

Vendors and traders are scarce but provide valuable items including rare animals for those with coin. Items that they offer for sale can usually be collected and crafted, but do you have the time? Maybe you are missing that one ingredient for a must-have item. They probably have it, for a price.
I would listen to what all the negative reviews say.
I got this game in EA years ago and it had great potential. I did pay for the game... and not sure when it went free to play but honestly I don't think it's worth it. There was a lot of bugs/glitches in the game that never got fixed even though they pushed it into full release then never updated it again. I left it for a few years then decided to come back to check on it, but even after 4 years nothing got fixed and it's been abandoned. They couldn't even be bothered to add in a map. The game didn't feel finished and there's just too many problems which is probably why they went F2P. Oh and I would listen to what other negative reviews say- the worlds are very empty, and after so long there's not much to do.

Such a shame this game was basically abandoned, not to mention paying for it in early access for it to apparently be free now. Wasted potential, I wouldn’t recommend.

Animallica is an unusually ambitious survival sandbox that takes the familiar post-apocalyptic formula and gives it a conservation-focused purpose. Rather than making survival the sole objective, the game places the player in the role of the last survivor of a conservation center after a devastating virus has pushed much of Earth's wildlife toward extinction. Starting with little more than scavenged supplies, the larger goal is to preserve surviving species while establishing a functioning refuge. Animallica Games Studio serves as the developer, and the project is associated with the same studio as its publisher. The concept immediately distinguishes the experience from survival games built almost entirely around fighting, looting, and expanding personal power. The survival component remains important, however. The world contains mutated creatures and hostile human raiders, forcing the player to think about weapons, equipment, shelter, food, water, and other necessities. Gathering materials gradually feeds into an extensive crafting system, and exploration becomes essential because useful resources are distributed across numerous environments. Combat provides danger during these e…

Animallica is a survival game with a pretty unusual reason for keeping me alive. The world has been hit by a deadly virus and I am basically the last person left trying to save what is still alive. Instead of only worrying about building a shelter and finding food, I am also going around rescuing animals, curing them and bringing them back to a sanctuary. I like that idea because it gives the usual survival and crafting systems something more meaningful to work towards. It feels different from just surviving for the sake of surviving. The exploration is probably what I enjoy most. There are a lot of different areas to travel through, including savannahs, deserts, mountains, forests and ruined locations, and each one has its own things to find. I can explore on foot, use a horse or travel between areas with the hot air balloon. There are abandoned buildings and other locations worth searching for supplies, while animals can be found throughout the world. I like having a reason to keep wandering around because I am usually looking for resources, useful items or another animal that I can bring back. The animal system is easily the part that gives Animallica its identity. I can tranq…
