Around 23 hours of a hybrid of a Turn Based RPG mixed with QTE. The RPG aspect is a little bare bones as yes you can buy/find equipment and buy potions but there isn't any way to sell anything. It just all sits there in your inventory. You can ditch unwanted potions as inventory slots tend to fill up fast. You can also gather various crystals to up your stats. There are several hidden collectables in which you will need to hunt for. You will level up when you need to and find the appropriate equipment at around the same time. One thing the game desperately needs is a map. I never understand why developers don't put maps in these types of game. The story line while mildly interesting isn't anything really shocking or deep. Even though there are 5 characters to choose from, I tended to just stick to the main (first) 3. They are enough to get the job done and the other two don't really add enough to use them. The combat is fairly simple with turn based actions while performing some sort of QTE that will assist with the action. After awhile combat gets a little repetitive but enjoyable enough. The main issue is with mana (SP) running out too fast. Combat weighs too much on the physica…

Another Crusade is a turn-based role-playing adventure developed and published by by Dragon Vein Studios that blends classic RPG design philosophies with modern presentation and interactive combat mechanics. Built with clear inspiration from older console role-playing titles, the game embraces familiar genre foundations while adding enough personality and mechanical variation to avoid feeling like simple imitation. Through a combination of timing-based battles, colorful storytelling, and a world that gradually expands beyond its traditional fantasy beginnings, Another Crusade delivers an experience aimed directly at players who appreciate nostalgic RPG structure with newer design sensibilities. The adventure follows Rai Reysend and a growing cast of allies as circumstances pull them into a conflict much larger than expected. What initially appears to be a relatively straightforward fantasy journey slowly evolves into something far more unusual as hidden truths emerge and larger mysteries reshape the direction of the story. Rather than remaining strictly tied to medieval fantasy traditions, the narrative gradually introduces science fiction concepts and unexpected developments that…

A REALLY special little game. Battle system is tight (sometimes unforgiving, but never impossible, as someone who has 100%'d the achievements on Normal), the writing made me laugh many times, love the character, monster, and background designs... all the details really shows off the love these folks have for Super Mario RPG and the genre as a whole. Would definitely recommend it if you love SMRPG and that style of gameplay!

Two instant additions this game needs is a map with item locations on it and better timing window. I’m playing on easy and it’s still awful. Fix it and I’ll try this game again.

I want to love the game, really I do. I try to find the positives in all the games I play. A Super Mario RPG inspired game sounds awesome! But the further I get in, the more I'm turned off. Spoilers ahead. The timings are dreadfully tight even on normal mode. A missed opportunity would be to make you gain SP based on how well you time the attack, with miss being 1/3 an SP, great being 2/3 an SP, and perfect being an entire SP. At least then the tight timings would be somewhat justified and encourage you to learn them for a good reason, instead of the reason being "so the battle doesn't take 10 minutes." That's my suggestion in case the devs ever read a small time review like mine. I understand trying to balance the game around time hits is difficult, because you want to incentivize players to use them, but this is not it. Trying to grind levels is a slog. The EXP curve is vicious, as soon as you get a level in one area, it basically becomes obsolete to train in that area. Before I get some dude that's like "Nooo RPGs should be strategy not just leveling! That's boring!" First of all, there's no strategy in this game. It's nail the timed hits or die. Attrition =/= "strategy." Ef…
