Apocalypse Knights 2.0 - The Angel Awakens

"A Top Down Arena Dynasty Warriors with Darksiders aesthetics" Now this is really an example of a hidden gem here on steam. A well hidden gem indeed. Hidden mainly because of bad tagging missing key tags such as "hack and slash" and "beat em up" also missing some information like gamepad support (which the game has but it's nowhere to be seen on the steam page). All of it which I chalk up to developers' overall inexperience with the Steam platform. So by now you might have guessed that this is a port of a ios/android game but don't let that dissuade you since the developers actually put some work into this port by making sure the game runs on potato PC's (forget the steam page requirements - The real ones are much lower I think), customisable controls, gamepad support and Steam achievements. But most importantly eliminating real money completely and rebalancing the game so that the player never hits a wall because he is not a high enough level or other pitfalls mobile ports have. If anything they might have overdid it since the game is very easy but I think it goes nicely with the Dynasty Warriors vibe. So what is the game about? Solid port of a formerly mobile-only top down hack and slasher. Loaded with characters and items to unlock, as well as the ability to battle the ghost characters of other players once you level your own up enough. While playing, Apocalypse Knights comes across as a blend of Darksiders and Dynasty Warriors, with later levels losing almost all resemblance to our world. Zero lag with screenfuls of enemies too, which was nice. Controls very well with mouse and keyboard. Decent audio, but the soundtrack does tend to get a little grating during extended play sessions. Note this game is built around grinding, so much so that you can let the AI it ships with play for you and even unlock achievements if you'd like...just expect it to nearly die often on higher difficulties. I spent 43 hours unlocking all of the achievements, but you could probably do the same a bit under 38 if you worked at it. I grabbed this during the launch discount at just under 9 dollars, its new price of a little under 6 is a steal.

Strange way to say ARPG more just action without RPG. Take a game like crimsonland or nation red remove all of the guns and put in melee only wepons and you have this game. Not what i was expecting when i bought it looked more like a classic point & click rpg from screen shots but it isn't and don't be fooled by that. Now with that said, even if it isn't what i expected it's still a decent game good enough for few hours of pass time. Based on unity engine, but actually runs well for that. I was hitting like 550 fps in combat lol so graphicly not intensive, so should run well on even older and low end systems. Gameplay, it's just a survival game (waves of enemies over and over) with melee and char levels got items to buy levels to gain thats pretty much it. Very thin and very basic game. I give it 6/10, its ok but nothing new we havn't seen in past 10 years. Same damn zombie waves survival game. The industry really needs to move away from zombies, only reason the gaming market became so saturated with zombie games is because of the walking dead tv show which is old and slowly being forgotton. i recommend the game but only if you like a game like this......ZOMBIE SPAM meh.......

This game is one of the best mobile games I have ever played, and this port is really good too. I have a few suggestions and criticisms. The raptor and facecube modes are much too easy for the amount of honor they give, I think a good fix for this would be to make them longer than ten waves and have them give less honor at lower waves. I also think an infinite mode would be pretty nice. overall this game is very good, aside from some of the graphics and the occasional glitch.
