About AQUARIUMS

You are in a mysterious place, Aquariums and Liminal Halls surround you... As you go deeper your mind starts to play tricks, did you see something move inside the tank? Or is it just your Thalassophobia? The deeper you wander Aquariums, the more inevitable it becomes — you’ll have to step into the water and face what waits inside the tanks.Lost in a vast liminal facility of strange Aquariums, swimming pools and corridors, you must uncover the truth behind its creation... You will encounter entities like the Divers who seem to be in some kind of trance. You will find sharks, lost divers, gigantic whales and a sense of a horrible past... The creatures you encounter will haunt you and twist your perception of what’s real.AQUARIUMS has seven unique chapters, each taking 10 to 30 minutes to play.AQUARIUMS draws inspiration from internet phenomena like liminal spaces, found footage, thalassophobia, the Poolrooms, and the Backrooms.Created by a solo developer driven by a love for horror games — and a lifelong fear of sharks and deep water.

AQUARIUMS is, as best I can describe it, a dream from someone who is afraid of the thing they are dreaming about but can't quite look away and is not scared enough to wake up just yet. There's a lot to unpack about this game, but first and foremost before getting into this review, I want to provide the caveat that I did receive this game for free from the dev via my Steam Curator page, which you can check out by clicking here. Among other things, I have reviewed other, similar games such as this. So, while I did not pay for this game, my views are still my own and come off the experience of having played other, similar games. Additionally, I also have a warning for any prospective player of this game: I do not know if it was intentional or not, but I experienced multiple sequences with flashing lights. If you are sensitive to rapid, flashing light sequences, then I would be very cautious of this title -- or skip it entirely, if it is a serious health concern. So, EPILEPSY WARNING: this game does contain sequences with flashing lights! Now, all warnings and caveats aside, I have to say...I […

Visually, it does some nice things with geometry, vivid colors and shiny surfaces, but that's probably the only good thing I can say about it. Otherwise, it's both pointless and boring. You walk through linear hallways (in other words, you hold down Shift+W for like an hour), look at divers, orcas and sharks, and then the game ends. But not before throwing a handful of cheap, repetitive jump scares at you. Save your time and money. I purchased this in the spring sale 2026 for $9. $9 for a game I finished in 1 hour, and that was walking some of and running some of it. this game should have been around $4 or $4.50. upon laumching the game there is no settings at all, just a play button, chapter select and a quit button. I guess they wanted you to just play and get straigjht in without messing around. Next the game is broken up through loading screens (they dont take long, half a second) but it kinda ruined the atmosphere in some parts, for example I was walking through red water and red lighting and wondering where it would end up and where it was going,, there was heaps of corridor in front of me, then all of a sudden a loading screen....and I was then placed back down into the next section of the red water room/area. I did like the game with its amosphere and sound and it was worth playing but charging $9 for a 1 hour game is insane. Spring Sale this shou;d have ben $4 or $4.50. There is no replay value as by the time I finished I got all 13 Achievements. The lighting was good but there was so many instances where I was a black room with no flashlight at all and couldn't see where to go and I ha…

I played the demo and was mildly excited to see what they could do with this, I have a deep phobia of large dark deep bodies of water and sharks so was really expecting this is scare the hell out of me. At points it did but not what I was thinking this would be, the jump scares while they got me it was more the noise than the visual... I'm not a fan of having the camera taken from me and for the price I'm not happy. BUT the atmosphere was done brilliantly and when we down into the metal rusty area I was excited expecting something good and in places this game was good. At the end though I'm left feeling disappointed as this could of been a banger of a game, so over all a promising idea I hope someone picks this up and does it a game it deserves. And good try dev's I hope you do this again but better.

I like the theme of the game and the little bits of horror. The game could be improved with more interesting environments and giving the wanderer a flashlight. I don't know if there's more to come but, it feels a little underdeveloped. The graphics are fine, walking speed fine. Footsteps could be a little more pronounced and running footsteps with some head bob, definitely needed. I'd say at the moment, the game is ok

This game could be something, if exploration and not just "walking through hallways and pools" was the entirety of the game play. It's sad though, and I hate to admit how much I WANTED to love this game. But sorry... walking from one hallway to one set of pools to one set of aquariums with goofy guys in old timey dive suits is NOT scary. No matter how many sounds you gussy this up with, it's still junk. Sorry, developers. Next time try something entirely new and allow folks to do more than just follow the path way. I would NOT recommend you waste your cash. I had to ask for Money back.
