About Artifact Adventure

The ultimate mix of classic aesthetics and modern open world RPG!

Welcome to a truly open world RPG. Travel the world in the way you want, taking on the challenges you deem worthy of your time. Travel by blimp, artifact or by foot, and discover a vast world rich with characters, civilizations, monsters and adventure.
Take on quests the way you want to. Every quest has multiple ways to complete it, and the choices you make always have repercussions. Will you save the girl about to be sacrificed to the village fire god, or will you let her burn because it's not worth your time?

No matter what decision you make, there are always consequences. Your adventure begins with 1 of 3 choices that drastically change the flow of the entire game:
  • Freely fly around the world. (Airship)
  • Receive a special power. (Artifact)
  • Unlock the mysteries of the world. (Key of Time)
Everything you do determines which of over 70 endings you will get.
This is the truly the perfect definition of an open-world adventure... an Artifact Adventure!

I -LOVED- this game. I normally don't go for games that are this difficult, which says something about how amazing this is.

The main problem with this game is that it is very front loaded. It feels like there is half a game a game here with a good portion of the map lacking points of interest. At the time this game was released there was a lack of official NES style turn based rpg games so it filled a niche. Now though with the NES era Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games available to play on steam there just isn't much of a reason to play this game. It's a shame really because the bones of a innovative take on the classic rpg experience are here I just think it falls a bit short in the end game. I did like the game enough to check to see if it had been updated since the last time I had played and it doesn't appear that it has so I'm going to give Artifact Adventure a thumbs down. There are better games in this genre on steam to try. Particularly now.

Great homage to classic NES era JRPGs. If you have fond memories of dragon quest 1-4, you'll like this.

Scratches the itch of old dragon warrior games on gameboy. I'm enthralled :D

*Yes I highly recommend this game.* Not often do I complete rpgs let alone hit max level and complete the optional final dungeon. It is an old rpgmaker game but ran excellent on windows 11. I played with a keyboard. The rpgmaker menu is in Japanese but the rest of the game is in English. I just completed the game so here is my (disorganized) review: Artifact Adventure is in the style of NES rpgs, (specifically dragon warrior/quest 3 and ultima). It does have some great quality of life features, in town/dungeon movement speed is quick and there is even a way to speed of movement in the over world later in the game. There are reusable items to teleport you to every major town in the game. Battles are fought quickly and you can hold down a button to speed through text. There are also ways to increase exp gain/money. What makes this really stand out is all the quests have multiple outcomes and/or consequences. It feels like western crpg in that regard. Some of these outcomes are apparent right away. Some you won’t find out until you reach an ending. The game is non linear and quests can be tackled in any order. The game is short (15 hrs for the standard end boss, 20+ for…
