About Asteroid

A world without limits

Asteroid is an open world action adventure RPG set in space.
The universe is infinite and procedurally generated. Explore every corner of the galaxy to find treasures and precious resources, but also planets and enemies never seen before!

Story mode - COMING WITH THE FULL VERSION

The universe has changed: someone is trying to steal a mysterious power given by the gods to help a past civilization survive. Free the planets of hostilities and find out what is happening. During your journey, you may encounter many people willing to help you out, upgrade your ship and equipment, or even pay you to do some quests.

Asteroid's story mode is in constant development and each planet presents its own narrative arc.
With the addition of other planets, there will also be the introduction of a new chapter of the story mode.

Updates and Seasons

We plan to support the game with constant updates and Seasons, with new content to play, events and customizable ships!
Seasons are major updates that introduce new planets and chapters of story mode, in addition to the content mentioned above!

Fight fierce bosses in Black Hole Raids!

Black Hole Raids are boss fights to be done alone or with friends* which confer valuable rewards such as Flact, Lunar Dust and Aquanium Gems.

During the course of your exploration, you may come across a Black Hole - enter it to access a Black Hole Raid.
Black Holes differ in shape, color and size: depending on these parameters, the difficulty and rewards can vary, so always keep an eye on them!

*At launch it will only be possible to play alone. We are working to make the Alestore Online Play service for Asteroid active as soon as possible, but for the moment we expect its possible release during the course of 2023.

Customization

Being stylish is also important in the Z9 galaxy!
The Item Shop offers a variety of spaceships to purchase* to show off your gorgeous look, and if you are not satisfied with the proposed selection, don't worry: items change every day!

*To purchase the items in the Item Shop, it is necessary to have Aquanium Gems, a currency that can be obtained by playing for free or through in-app purchases with microtransactions. In-app purchases will be available with the full version of the game.

Events

There will be new events with rewards every month, so always keep an eye on the Steam update page for Asteroid, the official Discord server and the Events section within the game!

Online multiplayer - COMING IN 2023 (AFTER THE RELEASE OF THE FULL VERSION)

We intend to make Asteroid an online experience by allowing users to have fun with friends by playing in the same game world and participating in events.
The Alestore Online Play service is in development for Asteroid and we can't wait to release more information, so we recommend you follow the Steam updates page for Asteroid and the official Discord server.
We expect the service to launch in 2023.

...And more!

Even more surprises await you in Asteroid, play and enjoy!

"Asteroid" is, first of all, not at all free. It's an abandoned Early Access cash grab, a garbage 2D retro pixel shooter, of extremely poor quality, where, despite not finishing the game the "developer" of this trash apparently had all the time in the world to infest this with a nasty cash shop, and make empty DLC as well... basically any and every opportunity to beg for money from gamers, this developer is fully invested in. It's appalling to see such low quality games with such aggressive and nasty monetisation. This features really godawful, lazy pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. This isn't really free as the game is infested with mobile app store like microtransactions and a $4 begging DLC with nothing in it. This is a consumer hostile model that we don't need to see on PC. It's …
🚀 A Space Adventure... Or A Cash Grab? My Honest Take
🎮 Asteroid caught my attention as a free-to-play space RPG with pixel art charm. After spending time with it, I have mixed feelings that need sharing. The premise sounds exciting - explore the universe, save planets, upgrade your ship - but the execution tells a different story.
🎨 First Impressions & Visual Style
The 2D retro pixel aesthetic immediately stands out, though not in the best way possible. 🖼️ Graphics feel rushed and lack the polish expected from modern indie titles. Some might call it "charmingly retro," but it comes across as lazy asset work rather than intentional artistic choice. The visual presentation becomes a barrier rather than an invitation to explore the cosmos.
⚙️ Technical Issues & Accessibility
Several technical problems hinder the experience from the start:

❌ Controller recognition fails for non-standard input devices.
❌ No sound settings menu exists in the options.
❌ Required Alestore Online Play registration adds unnecessary friction.
❌ Only English and Italian language support available.
❌ Limited platform optimization despite macOS an…
