Loving it so far! A little simple at points, but it's an indie developer, so that's part of it's charm! I've been streaming it on TikTok and the audience has been really enjoying it, and I'm having a great time as well :D2 found this helpful
RPG Maker strikes again! "ATNRPG" is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. This is a painfully generic and pointless RPG Maker asset flip/fan-fiction with the usual cringe writing, lame concept, and shoddy asset flip tier implementation. At least this one isn't about the developers imaginary girlfriend, making this slightly better than most other RPG Maker asset flips on Steam. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features ex…1 found this helpful
I'm just gonna run a few things I disliked about the game first, call them minor inconveniences or constructive criticism. 1. This game is not full audio- it's not any audio in fact for the most part, so take that off. 2. Without spoiling too much, A key boss mechanic (that has by the way contributed to a large fraction of my playtime here) is low rng. It can take anywhere between 3 seconds to 3 minutes for each boss mechanic to spawn and it often spawns when you're in a bad position and proceeds to despawn the second you roll up to it. 3. The mini boss in
act 2
on the
beach
is too fkn difficult. He's harder than the final boss because there's simply not enough space to maneuver round him. He traps you on the edge so easily and E.Honda Hundred-Slaps your ass till you're gone. 4. No jumpscares. This is a big missed opportunity, especially in the scenes like
painting-man-stare
and
the image of the woman turning red
. I tell you what, if you added a jumpscare to either of those sequences, I would've been sent flying off my chair no doubt. 5. The
breathing
part in act 2 goes on for wa…1 found this helpful
Recently tried out ATNRPG and found it engaging. The game's indie charm is evident, and its storyline offers depth. While there were some minor bugs, they didn't significantly impact the experience. The world feels alive, with interesting dialogue scattered throughout. Enjoyed the adventure aspect and appreciated the attention to detail. Phillip the Slime is a standout character. Worth trying out, especially since it's a free game too!1 found this helpful
