It's the gameplay of FFXII but without anything else, just items and strategy. I do NOT recommend it at the asking price of 7€ though.

After reading some of the negative reviews, I decided to address the main complaints people seem to be having. Difficulty: Probably the greatest one. Granted that easy, normal and hard are boring once you figure out the main intended builds, the game shines on the hardest difficulty (I'll call it elite for lack of a better word, in game it's called "?") which has 5 separate levels, with only the last one offering the true final boss. On it, using most builds, you can no longer brute force your way through every encounter, and the fun comes from figuring out how to bypass certain gimmicks (every enemy has some) that your build struggles with. You can of course restart your run until you get an overpowered skill or boss relic, but in a singleplayer game, every run is a challenge run, so you do you. Lack of content: As you can see it took me 17 hours to beat all difficulties on both characters (elite requires that you beat the levels progressively to unlock further ones) + beat elite level 5 with more than half of the core builds. For a 7 euro game, I'd personally say I got my money's worth. If you need a game to have predefined objectives in the form of achievements you can flex on…

Game is fun but you've basically seen everything it has to offer in a couple of runs. It's got a few fun insanity builds but they're far too easy to get online and once they are there is very little reason to do anything but hit next until the end game screen. There only seems to be two characters and each one has basically one gimmick. You build around that gimmick. There are like 1-2 viable, kinda obvious ways to do it. Once you do you break the balance of the game and you win, regardless of difficulty. I saw it all in 2.2 hours. Which is actually really fun the first run or two but just outside the refund window I realized the game wasn't going to unlock anything new. That was it.

One of the best games I've ever played. I hope there would be an update or a newer version. I loved this game so much!

This has been on my pile of shame for a while. My brain very much loves the conditional skill building. The amount of different effects and synergies would make most bullethells blush in shame. I just really wish the game had a few achivements. Maybe finish a run on each character. Or something rewarding me when I manage to break synergies into casting 40 skill each turn. It also seems very short for the price? Is there supposed to be a 3rd character that I unlock? I'm really disappointed that this isn't in early access state because that means that I likely won't see any updates on it. There is also no endless mode, or leaderboard, so I currently struggle to find the motivation to do any serious indepth optimisation. Keep that in mind. Maybe buy on sale.

[h1]I Wanted To Love This Game[/h1] i played this game with the hopes of there being more than 2 characters, or at least SOME kind of meta progression (like a roguelike!) when i realized it didn't i was already over the 2 hour mark, no refunds, so i'm leaving a negative review instead. i REALLY wanted this game to be one of my favorite games. i really did. it's just there's literally no progression at all. you play, you code, you either steamroll or die. less nuance than wanted, and worse yet it feels like the second character has LESS need for coding, making the point of the game less and less clear! as other people in the reviews have pointed out: this is certainly one of the types of games that would have benefited with MOD support out the gate. or a dedicated "tool" in the game to build with. not having this means this game has a [u]shelf life[/u]. that saddens me, since this game has sat dormant now for months, years, without a proper content update or a promise of one, a [b]dead game on release[/b]. Please properly update the game and i will change my review to be positive.
