77/100
Bomberman meets Binding of Issac. Well this was a surprise! Awaken is a story about...A pretty poor translation in all honestly. I picked up some diatribes about demons and gods but the english wasn't the best which is fine because who cares about story when there is gameplay and I am moderately happy to report the gameplay checks out. Why only moderately? Well looking past the translation errors the gameplay is a lot of fun, its a twin stick shooter that uses keyboard and mouse so you have a lot of control over your shots which is both nice and important. I was a-ok with all of this because the game starts absurd and stays strong to that theme which I like. If you try this game out here are some pointers, bombs cost nothing to make. The cost you see when you fiddle with the settings? that is how much energy the bomb will use up. Energy regenerates slowly but honestly dead enemies often drop mana refills so just build the strongest bomb you can. It really surprised me how people gave me games to review, really. Anyway, I tried to play AWAKEN, but for a low iq beta male like me, it's too damn hard, can't finish the first level, I suck. Like in dark souls. The game looks cool, is challenging, a bit slow, at least at start, but needs a better optimization. I have a FX8320 oc to 4,5ghz, all cores hit max 80%, that's fine, but my RX580 never stayed at 100%, that's not fine. In conclusion, if you like challenge but you don't want to be sAniC, buy it.
