About AWAKEN - Astral Blade

The world is breaking… AWAKEN - Astral Blade is a 2.5D action-adventure metroidvania where you play as Tania, a bionic warrior fighting through a world twisted by Karpas energy. What began as a search mission quickly turns into something far more sinister, as the missing investigation team proves to be only the beginning. A mysterious force has corrupted the land itself, twisting wildlife and vegetation into hostile, unpredictable forms. But this world doesn’t explain itself, and you uncover its truth piece by piece.Master a precise and responsive combat system built around speed, timing, and control. Chain together dynamic combos, parry incoming attacks at the perfect moment, and turn defense into offense. Use Quick Rise to stay in the fight, and dash through enemies to slow time itself, gaining a brief window of invulnerability and devastating counterattacks from hordes of enemies and bosses. Explore a dense, interconnected world designed to respect your time while encouraging discovery. Uncover hidden paths, fragments of a lost narrative, and remnants of those who came before you. The deeper you go, the more the world reveals — and the more dangerous it becomes.Harness the mysterious Aether, a volatile resource and use it for your own benefits. Enhance Tania’s abilities and strength, unlock new combat skills, or invest in upgrades that adapt to your playstyle. Whether you focus on raw strength, mobility, or tactical flexibility — the path forward is yours to define. Face intense combat encounters and powerful bosses, or adjust the difficulty and gain helpful buffs when needed. The experience adapts — but the journey remains yours. 🐾 And yes… you can pet cats. /ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ

Pros Beautifully Vivid Art Style Story: Nothing Gripping, But Not Terrible Music Soundtrack That Goes From Tranquil to Intense Steam Deck/Linux Friendly (with frame dips as low as 40FPS in some of the larger levels of the game when playing on Deck.) Voice Acting: Better In The Original Chinese Gameplay Mechanics: Average, But Fun You Can Pet 12 Cats! Accessibility Features for Story Quests (But none for hidden items) Cons: When reading the dialogue, sometimes the names don't change when a different character speaks. I recently purchased this during the Steam Summer Sale after watching a trailer for it and thinking "Yes, this looks like fun!", and 33 hours later I finished it! Achievements and all! The game did a good job living up to my expectations! The story feels pretty generic, but the world exploration and fighting make up for it. The fighting mechanics aren't anything special, but the combos can be pretty fun when you're surrounded by a bunch of enemies. I listened to both the English and the Chinese audio and found the Chinese version conveyed emotions better, whereas the English version would best be described as "Meh." The visuals are the only thing lacking here. Everything else is tight, intelligently designed, and fun as hell. Enjoy the 100% journey!

Controls good. Died a couple of times because of Lack of Skill. Finished it on Normal. Music good. Fightingmechanics really nice. Nice Combos. But more often then not, they slowed down my Workbench. Weird. It has a Story! Something, something some Doctor, some Fighting with a Mountain for some Reasosn. Weird Ghosts. Robots. You are a Robot too! Something, something free Will? I don't know. Kind of ignored it. Liked the Game anyway. Played most of it in one go. Relatively short but that is a good thing here. Game doesn't overstay its welcome. The Map for Navigation sucks. it is all Mono-Color. Should be different Colors for different Places, would make Navigation easier. Other then that, it's good.

I’ve been having a great time with Awaken - Astral Blade. As an older gamer that started out on the NES playing Metroid and Castlevania, this game has been a blast! Astral Blade is an awesome 2.5D platformer with great graphics and a soundtrack to match. There are plenty of abilities to unlock and secrets to find. I have over 20 hours on this game, all on the Steamdeck.

I do like the way the game play is and the story is okay but there is a emphasize on the girl boss and it is a bit in your face when females are talking to each other.

Its pretty average. not bad not great. Get it if you REALLY like another metroidvania style game. Otherwise - pretty forgettable. I found the controls quite annoying, specially the weapon switch with LT , RT , it just feels so clunky to have two separate buttons especially since it affects combos.
