About B99

A Fast Paced Shooter set in a Roguelike Metaverse crafted by the B99 AI itself. The remnants of humanity are forced to challenge a Labyrinth created by an AI trained on Classic Digital Games. For the B99 it is only a Game and you only the Player. For humanity it is survival. Upgrades and Weapons abound to help you overcome Enemies, Bosses, and Traps looking to end your Run.

Think Doom, Parodius, BattleZone, Robotron, and Rogue mixed in a blender and you get B99.

Procedural Levels.

Lots of weapons and power ups.

Dozens of enemy types.

Bosses galore.

An Ai that just wants to torment you out of boredom.

Super fun and trippy but I personally would only play this game while under certain conditions...

Enjoyable, fun, well crafted with that little Indie touch you can't find anywhere else. Seated VR is a plus too so you can relax and blast away. Game progression is nice and there's a real motivation to clear levels especially to meet the bosses. I love the uniqueness of it, total full package, an ode to vector graphics. The trailers and screenshots may look confusing and too colorful or trippy, but in VR the perception of it is so good. Sometimes I just roam around filling my eyes with all those awesome colors and shapes, definitely a great break from reality!

The game is definitely retro. The controls are good. Visually it is beautiful. It is a game that you can zone out and just enjoy. The voices are great.

The game sucks IMHO, but it's just one indie developer doing some seriously heavy lifting, so thumbs up. My criticisms are directly opposite of the positive reviews. I find the game to be a bland faux-cyber graphic style. Other than seeing the gorgeous C64, I just didn't feel that retro, "boomer shooter" vibe. In all honesty it feels very AI assisted, even though I'd imagine it's roots were in a personal project by the developer. AI is in fact the crux of the games plot, and perhaps that really suits it. The audio is near impossible for me to stomach. The graphics are over bright and over bloomed, and the polyhedron shaped models feel exactly like...shapes. The reticle in VR is enormous, and the zoom feature is beyond useless. It's an audio/visual nightmare, harkening back to those "design is my passion" memes. To prospective buyers... take your inspiration to buy from the other positive reviews.
