Currently very janky and low quality. Will wait for future updates.
This game needs time to cook. What I played was a game with under-developed visuals, janky controls, nightmarishly bad AI that gets stuck on stuff. The game has poor production quality. Understandably, this is an indie game, however there are plenty others (especially Rogue-likes and wave shooters) that have more polish to them so I have to compare to them. The game really should have been marked as an "Early Access" game as it is clearly an either a late alpha or early beta at this point. There are definitely redeeming qualities to the game. The western category, especially in VR, is VERY niche and definitely needs more games. With its steam punk western theme, EvilPunk does stand out here. Wiedling western weapons against evil hordes of phantoms and zombies is definitely unique here. Hopefully the dev is able to improve on the controls, AI, and visuals. Its currently a pass for me, but I will continue to watch this game. To answer the developer: My experience was the same in both modes.6 found this helpful
Evil punk is a awesome wave shooter in a dark wild west setting. It does a good job at builing a gritty western atmosphere. Main concept of the game is a base defense, which is a lot of fun. Tactical and fast thinking is absolutely necessary to be successfull. Really looking forward to the upcoming Roguelite mode (cause I can imagine that it really adds a new layer to the game). Definitely will play this more often in the future6 found this helpful
Full of heart, for 5 bucks you 'd have to be a real scoundrel to not give it a try2 found this helpful
It doesn't run well at all, and at that point, what the game is like doesn't matter.2 found this helpful
Got a key through a giveaway, played on a Quest 3 using Virtual Desktop. i7 11th gen with RTX3060.
The Good
-The revolvers feel accurate, even with the weird angle the quest 3 controllers force. -Grenades kill outright and feel accurate to throw -Movement is quick, but not so quick as to cause motion sickness -Decent sound effects
The Bad
-The menu upon booting up the game is sluggish, and the camera doesn't follow the head tracking very well leading to vertigo. -Your hands are slowed down when holding a grenade, making your movements feel sluggish -Grab detection is spotty at best. If you drop something on the ground, it takes some work to pick it back up. -Turrets don't seem to hit anything -No music apart from boss battles.
The Ugly
-The graphics are dated and simple, but they are at least consistent and cohesive. -No ammo spawns during boss fights, so if you run out of ammo, all you can do is restart the map. -Two handed aiming does not work as expected. When you take a rifle in 2 hands, the rotation and yaw of the weapon is locked making it impossible to hold the weapon at eye level and aim properly. -Zero story or tutorial in the campaign. -I c…2 found this helpful
